Ive heard many concept albums in my day and enjoy them because they can tell a great story if done right, Dream theater and Linkin park are examples of bands that have made really good concept albums but here is a question, what are your guys favorite concept albums?

Does Nightfall in Middle-Earth count? 'Cause even if it weren't a great musical telling of the Silmarillion, Blind Guardian's music is still fan-fucking-tastic.

Fingolfin's duel to the death with Morgoth, check it.

Pink Floyd - The Wall

It's not just my favorite concept album. It's one of my favorite albums of all time, concept or no.

Drop Dead, Gorgeous - Worse Than A Fairy Tale

I know, I know, sounds emo/screamy, but it's one of the most compelling stories I've ever heard musically.

If you count it, Kid A by Radiohead, and that is also my favorite album of all time.

I want to say: Jethro Tull - A Passion Play

Of course, the problem was that Ian is quite imaginative, but lacks some color, or clarity in his verse. It'd be a great concept album - if I could tell what it was about. Thespians or something, right?

Hemispheres was amazing, but I'm going to go with

TOOL: LATERALUS

... I think that's a concept album, right?

Pretty much every album by King Diamond, but if I had to pick, I'd say Them & Conspiracy, since it's in two parts.

Ninja'd by the second post. Into the Storm was the first song I heard from these guys. Metal based on Tolkien? Match made in heaven for nerds like me.

I dunno what would be considered a concept album, but Colors by Between the Buried and Me would feel pretty close to one. It also happens to be my favourite album. Though their next one, The Great Misdirect rates pretty highly too.

Rush - Hemispheres.
Hemispheres, as great of an album as it is, is no more a concept album than 2112. A Farewell to Kings, on the other hand...

Also, Dark Side of the Moon (Pink Floyd)

The lack of Dream Theater's Metropolis Part II: Scenes from a Memory in the responses saddens me deeply.

Another would be Dead Winter Dead by Savatage.

And already mentioned, but The Human Equation by Ayreon.

Linkin Park's A Thousand Suns. Love the band, particularly the slower songs by them, this has just has more of them.

Two by Pink Floyd:

Dark Side of the Moon
Wish you Were Here

(I like the Wall a lot but not as much as those two)

Two by Nine Inch Nails:

The Downward Spiral
Year Zero

I don't know... its definately Prog but I am not sure if it is a concept album like 10,000 days is - could be that I just don't realise what the concept behind it is. If someone could shed some light on this I would be eager to know.
