I kinda figured. No idea if the ones I enjoyed in the past are still running, haven't seen a news paper since my folks canceled their sub like 15 (more? less?) years ago.

The Phantom (to my knowledge still published in some newspapers in Australia every Sunday), Garfield, Hagar the Horrible, Zits, and The Wizard of ID

None. I haven't looked at a newspaper in years, and newspaper comics were never any good to begin with.

Finnish comic strip Fingerpori . It often has Finnish wordplay, but some of the strips work in English.

If we're talking newspaper comics, I guess Zits.

It's hardly on the level of stuff like Garfield or Calvin & Hobbes, but it's probably the most consistent strip there is.
