So there is a discussion here on favorite directors, (read it cos I would never want to steal anothers thunder) and about half way in the idea that someone might have a favorite dictator is brought up...

So who is your favorite dictator?
I gotta go with Pol Pot. He murdered people who wore glasses... You gotta be pretty insane to have that on your black list.

P.S. I feel like a disclaimer should be here but I don't want to write one. Lets just say that it is not always the best of society that truly admires people like Pol Pot and Hitler... But if we wanted to be serious we woudn't be presenting our ideas on internet forums.

I read the other title as 'Favourite Dictator' anyway >.>
Hmmm... I suppose I quite like Josef Stalin and Benito Mussolini, as dictators go...
Oh, how Mussolini was loved by the people of Italy... but the same goes for Stalin.
Well, they're my favourites, as far as one can have a favourite dictator >.>

Castro..................I liked the man's beard.

Edit: Caligula was another favorite of mine. The man loved to indulge himself. An interesting person if I do say so myself.

I'm gonna go with Julius Caesar. Because not only was he a totalitarian dictator, he abolished the system that would have made his dictatorhip temporary the moment he seized control, conquered a massive portion of the world, and then got history to praise him for it. He's what Hitler would have been, if Hitler knew how to connect with his entire audience, and not just the disenfranchised Germans.

I think Kim Jong-il should get a mention for his characterisation in Team America... And his horse riding video.

Tito, the guys life reads stranger than fiction and actually reigning over the balkan states for as long as he did in relative peace is an achievement in any ones language, just a shame it all crumbled into the same old shit after his death.

My favourite tyrant is Peisistratus, the ancient tyrant of classical Athens. The reason for this was because he was a 'popular' dictator.

Julius Ceasar by far. He was the leader of the most fascinating empire in history.

I am. All the evil things I've done, drinking milk straight from the jug, enforcing the use of proper grammar, seducing the woman-types with my sultry Cajun accent...truly I am...the greatest.

Gonna go for Hitler. Uninspired choice, yes, but he pretty much set the benchmark, and the man was a damned good politician too. His 'relationship' with Charlie Chaplin is quite astounding too. And without him where would all our videogame enemies be? In Russia or from Space, probably.

I loath the politics, and of course the genocide, but I love the uniforms, the technology and the innovation.

If I say Benito Mussolini, will that make me a complete bastard?
Seriously though, the man was a tad (that means really) racist and had absolutely no emotions, but, as far as dictators go, he wasn't a complete fuck-up and his country worked.
He was a horrible person, but he was pretty successful. Same thing goes for Josef Stalin - the guy had the courtesy to rid the USSR from Trotsky, Zinoviev, Kamenev and other scum but among that he also rid the country of 20-something million men who didn't deserve this fate.
So, yeah, I guess naming anyone in this thread will make me a horrible, horrible person.
EDIT: Alright, sorry, screwed up, Napoleon.
I adore Napoleon and I happen to be from Russia. The guy was smart, the guy was ingenious and the guy had the best fucking plan for domination I've seen ever. If not for his horrible screw-up in Russia, who knows what route history would have taken.

None sorry. I however do believe that some countries that are so unstable within itself that maybe an iron hand is needed to rule or govern it to prevent self destruction but the way it may be done is a bit harsh as history has shown us.
