Um... I'm from Sweden... so should I pick non-Swedish movies or non-american movies or should I avoid both Swedish and American movies? XD

EDIT: I'm going to assume that I'm supposed to pick a non-english speaking and non-swedish movie.

Der untergang (Germany)
Das Boot (Germany)
Stalingrad (Germany)
El laberinto del fauno (Spain)
Mononoke-hime (Japan)

I'm a big fan of Jodorowsky's work, El Topo and Holy Mountain in particular. The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari is wonderfully evocative too.

Kudos to the person who mentioned Wild Zero, that film is waaay out-there!

Downfall (German)
Battle Royale (Japan)
Death Note (Japan)
Ong Bak (Tailand)
Pan's Labyrinth (Spain)

I've seen other foreign films, but these ones stand out the most for me (I didn't count films in English, including American and Australian films...)

Genghis Khan. Russian film
Are you refering to Mongol: the Rise of Genghis Khan? That's one of my favorites, great action, great story, and I've heard there making another, if so then I cant wait for another.

I also like Das Boot, though I've only been able to see the dubbed version.

Edit: D'oh! How could I forget Kung Fu Hustle, that film is amazing.

I'm also going to go for an obvious one, I've been a Godzilla fan for years now.

Edit2: I also forgot one of my favorite westrns of all time, The Proposition. I know it's an Australian film but I live in the US, so its foreign to me.

La Bella Vita, or I think in English it was Life is Beautiful. I cried!

And yes, Pan's Labyrinth. Actually I may have cried in that one too, at the end.

Fistful of Dollars, For a Few Dollars More, and The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly are all great spaghetti westerns.

Pan's Labyrinth, Oldboy, City of God, and I just watched Y Tu Mama También last night. That was pretty good. I didn't count anime cause there's just so much of it that I couldn't really choose. Okay, Spirited Away and Castle in the Sky.

I don't know if it counts as a foreign film... but my favorite movie with a mostly non-american cast is Run Fatboy, Run

It's just hilarious, and Simon Pegg is an amazing actor.
most American thing I've ever seen on this site ever. a foreign film is in a foreign language. by your logic, any movie made in America is a foreign film to me.

OT: I gotta go with Ong Bak [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0368909/] staring tony jaa, Maui Thai martial arts at its best.
In that case... I like Jet Li's Fearless... No, I don't care if it's all special effects. It was a good movie.

I'm really annoyed. There was this great French animation shown on the BBC a few years back on christmas eve, and I don't remember the name.
