Okay, so we ALL know how people hate so many companies. EA... Ubisoft... EA... Telltale... EA..................EA...
How about we do a bit of the opposite here and instead talk about some of our favorite game companies and devs? The better ones. Feel free to mention AAA devs if there's any that you actually LIKE despite downsides, or talk about smaller indies if you prefer. Let's get some happiness in here.
To start us off, I'll mention probably my favorite dev.

A small indie developer, consisting of two people, Spiderweb Software has been making Western-style RPGs for over 20 years. Yes, really, from back in the shareware days. They've remade games so that they could work on modern PCs, make their games available for not just Windows but also Mac and Linux (and occasionally ipad), and every single one of their games has a free demo available for it. Sizable demos too, so you can give them a very nice-sized try. Jeff Vogel, head of the company, also presents himself as the Sarcastic Old Man of the game industry and has posted blogs and taken part in conferences to show off his knowledge and share what he learned. Worth it to hear.
His games aren't the best, but I still consider them good. Avernum is fun to go back on, Geneforge has a very unique setting with interesting themes, and Avadon is... okay. It's worth it to go check them out in my opinion.
If there's any downside to the company, I'd say it's probably that he charges more for the games if you purchase them on their official site than if you purchase them on Steam or GoG. I believe the reason he gave is that if you go to his site, that means you're specifically looking for them and would be willing to pay more of a premium, or something like that.
