I really like stardock for their policies regarding DRM/treatment of gamers.
I like blizzard (though i disagree with the SC 2 split though i love them for diablo) and fireaxis(Civ 4.
Though EA does make some good games i am not a huge supporter because their customer service blows, and they rarely patch bugs.

I think most of my favorites are out of business. Black Isle, Bullfrog, SirTech, Lionheart (Molyneux for Fables) and probably Blizzard (for Diablos). Moving up in the ranks is Bethesda due to Fallout 3.
EA is probably my least favorite due to their seemingly pure money-making outlook on game development (quantity over quality).

May I point out that EA is a publisher, not a developer? Criterion Games made the Burnout series, EA published it. Mirror's Edge and the Battlefield series were created by DICE, and published by EA. Just sayin'.
I love Activision, Maxis, and of couse, Valve.

id. They may not be the creme of the crop for storylines and plots, but goddamn do they ever make smooth, exciting and great gameplay while being industry leaders in technology.

Nintendo. Because, when they're on form (ie Mario Galaxy, their most recent classic) they make the best games in the world. Who cares if they use similar settings, they still know how to make games fun.
Blizzard, Harmonix, CCP. I don't really like WoW, but I respect it as a quality achievement. It's just that EVE is my MMO.
I respect CCP for having the courage to make EVE what it is. It will be interesting to see what their next MMO turns out to be...
And yeah, Activision, EA, and Ubisoft are publishers. EA does have some of its own studios though, like the one up in Vancouver. I think they make the BIG games up there. Ubisoft has a lot of in-house development as well.
