Hard to say, but I'd probably have to go with good ol'

I've played through the Baldur's Gate series from beginning to end, counting the first game and the expansions, at least three or four times now which doesn't sound all that impressive till you consider the 100+ hours one of those playthrough takes, and that's not even counting the numerous half-way campaign and games where I only played one or the other of the series.

Yet despite having played the game so often I continue to find new things in it, new scenario, new items, new dialogue. Not to mention the modding community which to this day continues to produce amazing new content and improve upon the games solid foundation.

Just such a solid experience, I don't think I'll probably ever play another rpg quite like it. Pity!
I like you great tast in games but dont forget balders gate one even more so with the tutu mod

My favorite is mount and blade warbands or maybe with fire and sword but i cant say since i havent played that one yet.

I've probably played this enough times to be able to direct a stage play on it. If Sony remembers that this game exists and does something about it, I'd be the happiest ************ on the planet. Sequel, prequel, remake, or simply a PSN Store release, I don't care.

ok this is gonna sound stipid, but if im just saying straight up the game i would most love to be playing at any given moment

its afro samurai

that is no joke, and it has nothing to do with the show

when i was first young enough to imagine my ideal game, it was a fluid perfect swordfighting brawler

afro samurai is the closest to my dream a game has ever come

(actually, there is a huge lack of good swordfighting in games imo)

Tales of Symphonia.

It's even better when you add friends.

There should be more multi-player (local and online) action RPGs

Tales of Symphonia simply for being so good level grinding is fun. And for having the greatest combat system ever imagined in any RPG ever.

Zelda: Majora's Mask. I mean yeah, a lot of games are better, but MM has the nostalgia factor really working for it.

But if you exclude games boosted with nostalgia, then it'd be Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood.

Captive, by Antony Crowther (Mindscape 1990).

It was a lot like Dungeon Master, a dungeon RPG - or Hired Guns, Bloodwych, that sort of thing. Captive is so much better than it's contempories, lots of gadgets and enemies and ways to kill those enemies. I spent entire summers playing that game.

Persona 3 Portable. Maybe Persona 3 FES when I get it, because it's like Portable but with more AIGIS

Love that game. Love the characters, the combat, fusions, Mara- Everything about it.

EDIT: Valkyria Chronicles 2 comes a close second. I have a feeling that Valkyria Chronicles 3, properly translated so I can understand it, would take its place due to better characters and story but OH NO! *Some* company decided not to localize it.

Final Fantasy 5. It combined a refinement of the Active Time Battle system with a job system that allows for stupendous variety in character builds. The result - the most fun combat gameplay in any 16-bit RPG ever.

I have replayed it 7 or 8 times. I love the characters, the music, the dungeons. The story's not the most original but it hangs together well. I love the ending. Most importantly it is still fun.

Final Fantasy 6 and Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines for runners-up.

Assassin's Creed 2 of the main console ones. Of all time though it would be a Pokemon game.

Mass Effect 2 might change that though.

Also near the top are Just Cause 2, Fallout 3, Halo 3, Mass Effect 1

An easy toss-up between Chrono Trigger (as mentioned in the first post) or Earthbound on the SNES which has also already been mentioned. Still trying to find my own copy of Earthbound to love and nourish into a full-grown game. But they all seem to be adopted already....sigh.
