LIght Yagami, or Lord Kira, from death note. Sacrifincing his own sanity and soul so that the world can be transformed into a utopia. Personally, i believe him to be the greatest heroand ideological role model i have seen in teh last... couple of years. Just a sahme that the writer couldn't come up with a better ending than "He becomes crazy and evil."

Paksenarrion from "The Deed of Paksenarrion" by Elizabeth Moon. After reading the book like 8 times so far, Paksenarrion's emotional ups and downs, her experiences still make me cry and celebrate!

My bro is dead. He's gone! But he's right there on my back, and here in my heart! He lives on as a part of me! If you're gonna dig, dig to the heavens. No matter what's in my way I won't stop!! Once I've dug through...it means that I've won!! Just who the hell do you think I am? I'm Simon. I'm not my bro. I'm ME!! Simon THE DIGGER!!!
I was gonna say Vash the Stampede from Trigun, but damn is this a better choice.

I do like Kamina more though...

I gotta say mine is Sir Schmoopy of Awesometon. Because he purely is awesome, and rolls lots of 20s. For those who don't know, Sir Schmoopy is from Unforgotten Realms hosted here on the Escapist!

Alex, I'll take "nerdy as hell" for 1000.

Will Riker, from TNG. I've never been able to relate to the guy in the limelight, but Will has always seemed to be the one character in anything that I would love to be.

I like Goku because he can beat up anyone that wants to destroy the Earth and he's also a family man. He's a pretty cool dude, I wish I could be like him.

I'm stuck between FFX's Auron, Batman, and Gordon Freemon... And maybe Ezio from Assassin's Creed.

Edit: I'm totally going to get laughed at for this but:

Scooby effing Doo!

George Smiley from the John le Carre novels, or James Bond from the books. Probably Bond moreso.

look at my avatar.
I can't tell...is your avatar a Predator? It looks waaaaaaay too zoomed in to be able to tell.

I say Jack Bauer from 24 as my first choice. Very tortured soul, scarily competent character who will stop at *nothing* to save the day.

And, while I have yet to play Assassin's Creed II, Ezio Auditore de Firenze. Could almost be seen as a 1500s era Batman (roughly same backstory, same affinity for a multitude of fantastic weapons and gadgets), but he doesn't descend into the gloomy lifestyle that Batsy did. Makes him much more enjoyable.
