You're right it I should have said chiptune. However this whole "CC rips artists off!" thing pisses me off so much, infact now it's just disapointing whenever I see it. Something people see to be missing that's right infront of their faces is that it was an unreleased track! Theres a reason why it's unreleased, because Ethan couldn't get copyright so didn't put it on the album. If the song happens to be leaked online or posted on myspace then it's not the band's fault, it's the label's surely.Erana said:fullbleed said:This counts though it is electro, most of Crystal Castles' songs have lyrics so...
Its not electro, its chiptune. Chiptune is a genre that consists of anything using 2, 8, 16 bit sound as its primary sound. And its very broad, ranging from classical, deathmetal, and of course the kinds of little tunes you'd hear when playing a NES game. The primary community of artists that produce these works center around the Creative Commons license, and general good will towards their fellow artists. And if you have an ounce of respect for the genre, or for ensuring that artists get their due, you should boycott Crystal Castles. The argument as to why?
