From either your home town or place you consider home. Mine would be Ribs from County Line since I grew up in the southwest.

One that is delicious and on my plate. It can't get more local from there.

For me this would be the chinese restaurant right underneath my childhood apartement. Seriously, I think we ate there like 4 or 5 times a week until we moved.

There's this restaurant about 45 minutes away on a subway.

It looks actually isolated and you can barely find it. Inside, it's like stepping into another age. Old books, real paintings instead of pictures of paintings, there's a piano player that comes in the evening.

The food is divine and more than enough while not at all expensive. The drinks are varied and very good. The atmosphere is of the 1900's. There's even a tea room. The waiters are very polite and discrete. I love it there.

Bakewell Tart? Yorkshire pudding?

My adopted favourite dish would probably be Пельмены.

I don't know that Reno has a local dish exactly, nor is there really anything that this little corner of Nevada has contributed to the world itself.

But since this is a town of transients, there are a lot of great things brought in from elsewhere---dynamite Mexican restaurants, a pizza place run by Displaced New Yorkers that wouldn't be out of place on 42nd Street, a Philly cheesesteak place run by people from Philadelphia, enough sushi joints run by Japanese people to keep an anime convention in hand rolls for days, and all the California cuisine your little heart can handle (which in my case is "none" since I hate the stuff, but some folks like it.)

Only real problem as I see it is the severe lack of good places to get a cheeseburger. You're pretty much limited to Carl's Jr. if you want a decent slab o' ground beef. I dearly miss the roast-beef-shop cheeseburgers that can be found just about everywhere in my New England hometown. Looking forward to moving back next year.

New Beirut Kebab in Oslo. The hot dressing there is amazing and, unlike 99% of the other kebabkiosks around here, everything is kept neat and clean even at 3 in the morning after serving 500+ meals.
