Got some new cards- no shinies, one rare ( a water/fire magic dragon), one uncommon (an elvish bezerker) and lots of crap. One card that stood out though was collosol might.

hell yeah.

Probably something from the newest set: Jenara.http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=180605

I don't really have one favorite card, though.
I pulled 2 of those in a sealed deck tourney I just entered, needless to say they helped me dominate, I finished 2nd place. Lost to the guy who pulled a Nemesis of Reason http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=188962

10 cards milled per attack vs. 40 card deck = quick game.
Holy day FTW!

holy day= prevent ALL (yours and your oppenents) combat damage being dealt. that would buy you 1 more turn to try and turn things around.

Nemesis of Reason:

For a reasonable mana cost, you can use it to obliterate an opponent's deck. And, if you're each playing with a standard sized deck, this means you can win in at most maybe 6 turns. Provided you can keep the thing on the field. Not much offense, but it's got a pretty good toughness of 7, and you can always buff it later.

That's just from an Alara deck though...my all time -favourite- card is Wrath of God:

I know, it's a pretty lame card, but I always get a kick out of using it. And while it's technically identical to it's black counterpart, Damnation, I personally think Wrath is the more iconic of the two. (At least this version of the artwork at any rate.)

I have not played in such a long time that the only good deck I still may have I know would not be legal. Reading some of these new cards though, I feel could destroy my deck so I do not get the balance sometimes, meh. Any way my most prized card by itself was not special but I have a Revised Ed. Sengir Vampire signed by Maddocks. He came to town and did a few signings. The old picture was definitely the best for ol' Sengir.

I actually had a deck of black only using Sorceress Queens, Hell's caretaker, will'o'wisps, hypnotic specters, and lots of other fun little creatures... Of course a nightmare or two just in case the match lasted for a while. If I did not win within the first 5-7 rounds then I would probably lose eventually... Fun though

When I still played, I used to run a fun combo with Rotlung Reanimator, Conspiracy (naming cleric) and a sacrifice card, something like Alter of Dementia or Phyrexian Altar. You can see the infinite combos possible, they're quite fun. So for sentimental reasons, Rotlung Reanimator is my favorite.

I refuse to use anything passed exodus. After that set it became, tap 3 mana to win.

My favourite card and the deck I built around him was the "llurgoyf" (possibly misspelled, it's been years) I will always remember the quote from my original black border ice age copy "Ach, Hans, RUN, it's the LLurgoyf!" ruled.

Anyway, I had a Wrath of god llurgoyf deck. My favourite thing ever was "I wrath of god. I play my 11/12 llurgoyf.

Or stromguarde Assassin. Sac 1 creature and tap him to destry any creature. good times.

A simple card called black ritual.

You tap one land(swamp) to gain three mana(black)

i like "path to exile" one white mana to take a creature, any creature out of the game. the only catch is that the other player gets to put a single mana into play taped.

1. http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=45448 bunch of them in a deck, combined with (down arrow)
2. http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=12442, can get thorn elementals out ridiculously quick in a stalemate...they attack three times...opponent dies.

And I can't tell you how many times I've killed someone with http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=189378 Put that in a hybrid 5-color deck, 5 damage every time.

This is by far the most broken card in the Alara block, this card will bring control decks to its knees (unless it's countered)
