Zaku Mark 2 from the UC gundam timeline.Pure Menace and intimidation.Its ugly and brutal and looks exactly like what it is a instrument of warfare.And that single glowing cyclopean eye.This is the mech from your nightmares.



VF-1D Valkyrie from Robotech (don't correct me).The dream mech as much, sleek and graceful but powerful, with more moves then dancer and more punch then a brawler. I Absolutley love these things.The ability to switch between mech, jet fighter and hybrid.is just the cherry on top.

The Mad Cat, Vulture, and Cougar from the Battletech universe are also pretty cool. They were pretty much my favorite mechs ever when I was younger.

Most gundam mechs are awesome. Though I especially love (in order of preference!)

Deathscythe (upgraded!), Heavyarms (basic) and the extending dragon arms one (I forget the name).

I love flighty jump about mechs that have charge up giant lazor guns and then pull out energy swords/whips to destory other mechs giant hand to giant hand!

At the same time I love the western approach to mechs, which is a much more industrial and practical way of looking at them. Games like Mech Warrior, where they are big and bulky with 20 guns on them, and often only capable of doing short leaps with giant rockets, not sustained flight.

to get a true sense of scale... that blue strip at the "eyes", imagine that as about the same size as the bridge on the enterprise, with the officers in (while all the engineers are in the chest making sure the plasma/warp/whatever cores dont explode)

the number one for me is the original VF-1 Valkyrie from macross. I still love those lines and transformation today.

Follow-ups... hmm... would say Windam from Magic Knight Rayearth (technically mecha), the long-fang black mamba from heavy gear (lovely rounded lines, plus the dual rocket pods) and the Aaliyah from armored core 4/for answer.

And if I'm allowed a toy-only design... thrust from the transformers - revenge of the fallen toyline. As much as I hate the movie, that's one lovely mech right there.

Yeah, I'm gona second this as well. I mean for fucks sake this thing fires tank sized projectiles. Rapid fire. From just ONE of it's guns!

White Glint is immense. I'm having the emblem tattooed on my hand. He was so difficult first time around on AC4A.


All of the AC front cover mechs are awesome as well. AC2's was sweet.
