Favorite Menus

Everyone knows that first impressions are extremely important, and the first thing you see when you boot up a game (aside from all those logos and whatnot) is the menu screen.

What are some of your favorite menus in gaming? It could be for practicality, it could be because it looks cool, or it could be because it makes your mouse pointer look really badass (Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy).

My personal favorite goes to Bioshock. Very intuitive, and I rather enjoy the piano strokes.

I loved the Psychonauts menu. Running around to doors on a brain never got old.

Fallout 3's is surprisingly effective for what it is, (6 choices in a list) and the slideshow of pictures and pictures are kind of cool.

Half-Life 2 Episode 2

Antlion grubs and the occasional one flying by, kinda fun to watch for the several seconds you are in the menu + it doesn't interrupt at all.

I like C&C RA 2 and 3, simply for the music.

Hm, it's not really a menu, but I love the way Mass Effect goes through character creation.

The Age of Mythology one. because theres an option called "more" because all the things on the menu could´nt fit in there. also, theres some great music, and theres atlanteans running around in the background.

Hmm.. I'll go with Conker's Bad Fur Day. Just because of all the Rare easter eggs to be found in it. I.e. Banjo's head on the mantle, etc.

Mass Effect, I love most of the music in that game, more so the galaxy map music, and the ending music by Faunts.

Also, it's not really menu music, but on Some Resi games, when you click carry on and it's got the typewriter thing telling you what's happened. I like that music

Killing floor: For having the slide show of the zombies (know thy foe)
Cod 4: Music alone made it good. Fitted the feel of the game
Fallout 3: slide show and music
Gears 2: music again

Probably red alert 2 for the music and the cool noise it makes when you click the buttons.

I always kinda liked the Rachet & Clank menus.

And the menus from Resi 2, 3 and 4 had a pretty nice impact aswell.

I kind of liked the banjo kazooie menu for n64 with the sleeping banjo. Amazing i can still remember it after 9 years.

OT: Fallout 3's slide show effect was very atmospheric, especially with the deep slow music.

Would you rather I make another thread asking why Halo is so popular, or another one calling Half-Life 2 out?

Sounds Cliche but I love half life 2 episode 1 and 2's menus. The images in the background are so emotional and atmospheric. I love it.
