Well, there's a lot of metal that I love, but I'd have to say that Iron Maiden is my favorite metal band... and now I've spent a half hour or so going through my collection to pick out favorites.

I split metal into 3 categories:

1."Public" metal (stuff you can get away with playing out loud)
2."Very" metal (stuff you could get away with playing out loud, if you're lucky)
3."Dangerous" metal (stuff that makes non-metalist ears bleed)

Favourite from each category:
1. Tie between Another Way to Die, by Disturbed, and Drama by Soulidium
2. A Vampires Lament, by Atreyu.
3. Gilded C***, by Cradle of Filth.

To be fair, I'm not sure if Soulidium can be considered metal or heavy rock. Either way, good songs.
