I loved Sweet L.A.

Also, Distant Honor and Shadows in the Moonlight were really good as well.

Joker's Song and Normandy are probably my two favorites, but Wheatley's Song is pretty awesome as well.

Are those in a semi-order of preference, or just whatever came to mind first?
Just whatever came to mind first. But to be honest, New Black Gold probably is my favourite song from him.

There can't be a single favourite song for me. or even 3, or 5, for that matter.
I could easily put half of all his songs in list form for this thread and it would be a pointless waste of time.
You could figuratively throw a dart at the choices and pick which one it lands on.

That's what I did XD

If not, then what was the first one you heard?
The first one i heard was the first one he created and posted in the Escapist forums, "Gordon Freeman Saved My Life".
I've actually thought about it a bit and i'll put down the songs that really impressed me, moreso than the other ones.

Sovngarde Song - because it was a new direction and it kicks ass
Life In Bullet Time - It's special
Somewhere Over The Rainbow - the best cover i've ever heard of an already amazing song.

All his music is good but I don't connect with it at all. So I don't "like" any of it. It's not that it's bad, It's good. But I, I just, I don't know how to say this, but I don't know it just doesn't create an emotional connection for me. It just seams all hollow? That's the best way I can think of it. I mean I like songs based on books and movies but "Out of the Silent" felt like it's own thing. I just don't get that same felling when I listen to Miracle of sound.

Am I making any sense?

That beginning part in the opening makes my hair stand up :)

I also really like how the song is vague in such a way that, while it fits the game perfectly, would work just as well without the "source material" ever existing.
Rise, The New Black Gold, and even wasteland soul to some extent all do this and I absolutely love them for it.

I can't believe nobody's mentioned "Roll Out" (Transformers) yet! :)

I can't pick a favorite, either, but that one and Wheatley's song are definitely the most often stuck in my head.
"Mining All Day Long" is guaranteed to brighten my day any time, although for the record I have only ever played the demo of the game in question. (Yes, I tried it after hearing the song.) It's just so happy!

Another one I really like without having any reason to is "Second Chance Song." I'm not even sure which game it's referencing-- some Call of Duty I presume? -- but the chorus is so catchy I end up humming it to myself without even thinking about it.

1.Life in Bullet Time
2.Gordon Freeman saved my life
3.Distant Honour
4.Normandy & Commander Shepard
5.Breaking down the Borders
6.Reclaimer
7.The Ballad of Clay Carmine

All of his other songs rank about the same, save for his instrumentals & Rise, but only because they don't fit my taste.

The only ones I've listened to properly are those two vaguely metal ones... DNA and then the Mass Effect one?

If you asked me a few weeks ago I would have said Sovngarde Song but I've really been liking New Black Gold alot recently and Normandy has always been one of my favorites so probably those two.

Kalros? That's one where he matched the Drum beats to the Guitar in a neat Mathy way right?

Yup, that one. And yeah he mucked about with non-standard time signatures a bit, that's why the rhythm feels so weird.
