Ughh. Typing "MOBA" makes me feel dirty, but whatever. Anyways I have played all three big wigs and this is what I think.

1. Dota (2): I played Dota back in the WC3 days, and the era of IceFrog was also known as the era of schizophrenic balance. Some obviously broken things were fixed, only to be replaced by even more retarded things. Some heroes who were broken and perma-banned every single competitive game were not fixed for years. I left because of leavers and griefers and whatnot, but the game left a sour taste in my mouth.

Jumping on Dota 2, it is the same old problems. IceFrog balance... I also hate the artstyle and the problems with input delay are awful.

2. Heroes of Newerth: Jumped on this one during mid closed-beta. It was awesome. It was Dota but actually good, and alot of retarded heroes were not present! How could I not love it. But playing it now, it is different. The S2 heroes are pretty good, but the remnant of Dota still remains and the game is balanced around IceFrog balance and also poorly. The balancing in HoN is just as bad as Dota, but it is a crisp experience.

Oh, and there is a lot of rage. Rage I never knew existed in the human species. It is there in HoN.

3. League of Legends: *Sigh* irrefutable proof that quality does not indicate success. This game is bad. Ignoring the cartoony artstyles (the same one Dota 2 thought was good), the gameplay is dull and overly simplified. I am not a fan of the persistent upgrades (the RPG elements if you will) but some people are. What frustrates me most about this game is the attitude around the balance. "Anti-fun" balancing... Need I say more.

This game feels soulless IMO.

Overall, it comes down to two things between HoN and Dota for me. Who's balancing you prefer, and what artstyle you prefer. I know Valve is going to fix all the server issues on D2, so that is no issue. Right now I exclusively play HoN, but not very much.

So what is your opinion?
