The Warriors - It was called everything from "revolutionary" to "incendiary and dangerous." Looked at with today's perspective, the idea that a film as campy as this could be seen in such a way seems laughable. Despite this, it's one of my favorite movies. It's cheesy, yes, but there's some great writing, and the fight sequences are still top notch.
Spider-Man 2 - To me, this movie is everything a fantasy superhero film should be. It recognizes that it could never happen in real life, so it pulls no punches with over-the-top visuals and stunts, and thanks to some stellar FX work, it looks fantastic. Another thing: Tobey Maguire was never the greatest pick to be Spider-Man in my mind, but he really came into his own with this flick. Whether or not you like him, you believe he's Peter Parker by the end of the movie.
The Dark Knight - At the other end of the spectrum, this movie is everything a realistic superhero film should be. It's based around comic book mythos that borders on legendary, yet it's still very firmly ground in reality. With the exception of a few of the Joker's more outlandish schemes, almost everything about it seems like it could occur in real life. It doesn't hurt that the writing is amazing, too.
Dumb and Dumber - As the title may suggest, it's not the smartest film out there, but you'd be lying if you said it wasn't damn funny. The chemistry that Carrey and Daniels have never ceases to amaze me.
