Favorite PC game?

So I was thinking recently as I was wandering around gamespot.com reviews and started to wonder what is my favorite PC game? The first games that popped into my head were those of Half Life 2, World of Warcraft (before it got boring), Dragon Age: Origins, Fallout 3, MW1. I also considered MW2 being a potentially great game had IW not ruined the multiplayer aspect. In all honesty the gameplay is superb but with all the hackers and lack of player run servers, it just is not as good as the first. I think based on great gameplay and an excellent story Dragon Age just might be my favorite. For pure fun and adrenaline pumping action I would probably say MW1 due to the great SP campaign and hours of endless fun in MP.

So what is your favorite PC game(s) and why?

Most of those games, besides WoW, are cross platform games. Most PC only games will be those MMOs and most RTS games. Though, some of us remember the hilarity of StarCraft 64.

My personal favorite PC only game will have to be from the Total War franchise. I'd like to see a console do that shit.

Recently, Left 4 Dead and Fallout 3 have captured my attention.

Well then im obviously not talking about single platform games only made for the PC. Being a PC gamer though, I only play any of these games on my PC, neglecting my 360 for the most part. And there will be certain games like Dragon Age which are just far superior on the PC. Just because a game is cross platform does not mean it can't hold a special place in your PC gaming memories.

Too many to really say. I love pc games, and I have such a hard time picking my favorite. I guess right now it would be freelancer.

I would say counter-strike, any iteration of. Then ofp/arma, RO, UT99, ut2k4, Q3, WoW, W3, D2, Sup Com, COH, Sins, hl1/2, Rome/Med II TW, SC, the list goes on and on of truly amazing PC games that still have huge followings. While it's your opinion, I would say that you should only include PC only titles, because DA:O, F3, MW1/2 aren't PC games per se, despite their PC iteration being superior they are also PS3 and Xbox games.

While not a really succcessful game I would personally nominate "Wizardry 8". I like RPGs where you can create your entire party, and it had a neat gimmick where you could select a ton of voices/personalities for characters and they would make comments and such based around it as you played. It also did a rather good job of tying up a truely epic storyline that began with "Bane Of The Cosmic Forge".

Fallout 3, Dragon Age: Origins, and others are awesome games, but are too new for me to say if they will continue to stick in my mind as much as Wizardry 8 (and that last trilogy in general) did.

Really I miss Sir Tech and the whole Wizardry team, as well as the single player Ultima games (pre-Pagan).

I know it's still a bit early and i can't gop into too many reasons why i like it so much due to spoilers, but i'm going to have to say my fav pc game is Dragon Age. I mean..it's just awesome. I love my lil rouge, it's the rpg that us "hardcore" rpg fans have been waiting for for a long long time.

Dawn of War, at the moment. Though, a little-known RTS called "Total Annihlation" is probably one of my favorite PC games of all time. An old game called "Star Control 2" is up there as well.
