For one reason or another, today my friends and I found ourselves discussing puzzles in video games. We recalled some of our favorites-- the six doors in Super Mario RPG, the stained glass in Resident Evil 4, the see-saw in Half-Life...

What are some of you guys' favorite puzzles that have appeared in games?

The colored blocks puzzle #3 [http://www.rpgclassics.com/shrines/snes/lufia2/puzzles/treasure/treasure7.1.jpg] in Lufia 2. That thing was the hardest part of the game. You have to place a block on either side of the one(s) that you want to change to the other color.

Also the seesaw puzzles in Half-Life 2.

Yeah, Lufia 2 had the best puzzles out of any game I've ever played. And that's saying something >_>

That ridiculous puzzle in the Bevelle dungeon in Final Fantasy X. That's probably the most recent one that I remember.

Also, the original Metal Gear and some of the challenges therein were interesting. Whaddaya mean I have to get captured on purpose?!

The portal puzzle with the platforms on giant poles with turrets on the platforms, suspended over a pit of toxic sludge. man, that one took a while.

The Seesaw puzzle from half Life 2. When I saw that, and realized exactly what it meant...

"sweet cthulhu! It's not some sort of key-event trigger! it's actually just the game's internal physics in operation! Oh, ye innumerable gods, what's next,real-time rendered fluid dynamics?"
(My previous FPS experience had been Halo:CE on the PC. I was a deprived gamer)

baldures gate, beat the boss by healing him. old but good. the fire pit/see saw in half life ep 1. looks like a see saw, but it is a hold up the path puzzle.

Thanks for ruining Baldur's gate for me!

I'm serious.

I liked Prince of Persia's Puzzles. the race against time ones were tough, but fun.

I loved the puzzles in Myst 3. Especially the marble level, because after you finish all the puzzles you get to go on a very fun ride.

I wonder if some of these really count as "puzzles".

That said, I think my favorite puzzle game ever was Under a Killing Moon.
