For fantasy games I like fighters that can heal or healers that can fight. Paladins, shamans, monks, etc.

For anything with a sci-fi feel I like spies or agents of some sort.

I likes me a good Demi-brick with blaster in it.
Paladin. Too bad the 3.5 is weak and 4th is OP, I homebrewed a balanced one. The WoW one is horrifyingly powerful, or it was last time I played(April).
Scout, this is my power-gaming class in 3.5 when this little bastard is built right he wins, against everything, you have to learn how to fight dirty though, using the ultimate adhesive (I forget it's actual name) to glue an item which has mordenkainen's disjunction spell placed upon it and setting it down as a trap for some jackass wizard who used a contingency spell (I didn't pay attention to the spell he had contingencied) to warp himself to another plane for 3 rounds, is considered fair play to this guy.

What part of that plan is unfair? :p

Wow, none of my personal favorite here?

I call him:

ORC SMASH!

if i cant lift a car, i'm not happy, if my armor is not 5 cm thick steel, i'm not happy, if i'm not swinging a weapon that outweighs my opponent by a factor of two digits, its not on.

Axes for preference, warhammers in a pinch.

I think the pure muscle-bound meathead is severely underrepresented nowadays, little sneaks and mages run about the place, but it takes balls and more balls to run up to a dragon with the intent to pit axe on claw... I always argue over who wins, rogues or warriors (in WoW its warriors, my friend disagrees) and i say it doesn't matter;

in the end its who gets the chicks, and after 10 years of bookstudy/light depravation mage/rogue-boy... i win in this also.

no offense though, i still needs heals.

yes, the horribly mangled and scarred warrior gets the girls over the thieves and mages. It makes perfect sense.

Saskwatch: not a thing in my opinion however the wizard PC I killed with that trick thought it was bullshit, well his player did anyhow. What can I say he thought his character was the shit when in actuality it's just another wizard.

I like most kinds of mage or (when its avalible) a gunslinger. I have a character in a Deadlands-based game who's half wizard half gunslinger, and I'd have to say that it's incredibly awesome. Teleporting sniper, anyone?

Engineer. I know it's not really a class, more of a profession (unless you play the World of Warcraft RPG) but the ingenuity of is just inspires me to invest into it.

Also, Tony Stark built it in a cave, with a box of scraps.

I like Fighter/Mage/Blackguard/Warlock/Half-Vampire Eldritch Knight/Half-Fiendish Rogue/Half-Dragon Disciple with a few levels in Monk. It's my specialty.

The fighting class, except in Oblivion where I use a custom class with a balance of direct combat and magic.

Robot that mauls people and is condescending about the human condition. (Steampunk in the context of swords and sheilds)

I usually play the "Glitch" class, after morrowind and oblivion, i'm 100% certain this is the best class ever.

especially considering that morrowind's "Glitch" class can run so fast the boundaries of walls, doors, time, or space need not apply.

Seriously though, I usually go for a warrior in MMORPGs because my favorite class, assassin, is only present as a rogue and not as a one-stab/slit kill character. Mostly because all warriors do is form a meat shield while inflicting minimal damage. also playing as a warrior means I can AFK whenever to get mountain dew because it usually only uses the mouse and 3-4 keys.

BTW i mean warrior as in a general melee combatant sense not in the WOW sense.
