In the first two, I played as Link, and on rare occasion Roy. But when Brawl came out, I ended up heavily favoring and sticking with Ike.
Peach and Zelda when I'm playing to win. I haven't a single friend I've yet to make rage quit when I bust out my peach-fu.

Captain Falcon all the way. Nothing is more satisfying then the triple-knee combo. For every game, especially Melee, however I'm solid with ganondorf, Young link and falco as well.
First: Mario
Melee: Link, Pikachu (NEVER stand directly above a Pikachu!) and sometimes Sheik though.
Brawl: Pit, Link, Ike, and Samus.

Of course those were my best characters. I wasn't very good at SSBM, i was OK in SSBB but i was untouchable in SSB64 with any character guaranteed (except Luigi), especially with Link.

Kirby for me. There's something satisfying about beating nintendo's finest with that little ball of pink awesome

Melee: Peach.
She was just an ass-kicking in a dress! You could hover over long distances, her smashes were nothing but brutal, and if you picked enough turnips you pulled out a laser sword. It's too bad they nerfed the hell out of her in brawl.
Brawl: King Dedede.
Hammer!! He may be slow and have long cool down between attacks, but his dodging ability was unparalleled. There was no cool down between dodges. I actually dodged Mario's entire final smash with him. His recoverability is fantastic, especially with his up+b. He also has so much raw power in his attacks and his throws. It makes it easy to break that smash ball. His final smash is so damn awesome! My roommates feared me when I glowed; they could do nothing but cower! Needless to say, I like King Dedede.
