A few posts have mentioned Inception, and I have to agree, it's a stunning soundtrack, especially this...

I'm going to be incredibly unoriginal here and mention anything by John Williams, especially all six Star Wars films (yes, including the prequels), Schindler's List and Indiana Jones. But this especially (it seriously doesn't get any better than this):

On a more obscure note, I wouldn't feel right posting on a music thread without mentioning Touhou at least once. Almost everything ZUN makes is just wonderful, and there is at least one masterpiece per game. Case in point:

EDIT: I'm in despair, forgetting Braid has left me in despair!. Oh well, here's my contribution:

Persona games. Especially Persona 3 FES. I would actually run around in circles for five minutes so I could hear the entire soundtrack loop before running to the next area sometimes.

I have a raging hard-on for the soundtracks of Shadow of the Colossus and Inception.
SotC also has some amazing music, though I've found that many of the remixes of its' songs have worked out to be amazing as well.

At first I was slightly turned off by it because you said 'remix' and I was expecting some techno song, but that was fucking epic.

Metroid Prime has one of my favorite Soundtracks.
The Music was a Major part of the experience for me, and it was a big part of the game as well.
Iv always loved it, it fit with the Environment so well, and was a soothing piece of music.
It really made me feel like i was Alone, wandering around Frozen Ruins.

The only thing i hated about this area were the Sheegoths...
Sheegoths EVERYWHERE.
Not that hard to take out, but really annoying in groups.
Seconded in every aspect. The entire Metroid Prime series has one of the best video game soundtracks to date. Each track fits with the area so well, and most of them are awesome enough to stand up as great music on their own. The electric/ambient nature mix of the music just fits the game so well...

The Baby Sheegoths aren't actually that bad. One charged beam shot to the back and then just pepper them with 3 or 4 regular shots. The big Sheegoths are really annoying though, but it's a good thing that they only appear in two locations further into the game, and the one in the quarantine cave is really easily bypassed.

I Completely agree.
The music fits the Style and Atmosphere of what Metroid is so well.
A very spacey style that is mixed with a Natural style as well.
Take the Chozo Ruins for Example, the Music the played fit with the Environment, a once pristine city formed from the very environment it was built in, inhabited by the most Advanced species in the universe.
The Music felt like that, a Ruined City being taken back by the Planet.
And the Music could easily stand on its own.

And yea, the Baby Sheegoths were no Problem.
It was the Groups of the Adult Sheegoths that became a hassle.
Especially if one Froze you and the others Shot you while you were frozen.
I hated the Smaller Areas of the game because i like to Jump a lot in a Fight.
