Alright I know the "this tread has been done before" quote is going to come up and let me say, Im pretty sure it hasn't, I searched and 10 pages in there wasn't anything like what I want to do. So, moving on then.
What is your favorite/favorites super hero/heros and Why? It can be anyone, from anime to video games to comic books. Im giving free range here.

Ive always been partial to Batman. He's essentially a ninja, which is just cool. Plus he looks to be the only acheivable super hero. I mean if you had enough money you could obtain a batmobile, batarangs, grappling guns and the like.

My runner up would have to be, and pardon the cliche', Superman. I mean seriously who wouldnt want to be invincible, fly, and do pretty much anything you like.

I say batman, he has a suit that doubles as a hang glider and a car that is half tank. Awesome.

Superman, has and will always be my hero of choice. "Superman" may not have been my first word, but probably should have been considering how much love I have for the character. I have a subscription to all the books. It's my dream to one day draw an arc for any of the books. I have the shield tattooed on my arm, because I honestly see it as a reminder to be a better person.

Needless to say, Superman, even as a fictional character, has had a profound effect on my life.

The Comedian from Watchmen an anarchic American hero, like Captain America fused with Heather Ledger's Joker, a truly rare chaotic good character. He's seen the darkside of mankind and doesn't give a damn.

Batman, because he doesn't let a little thing like not having superpowers get in the way of being a total badass.

I'm unsure of whether shooting a pregnant woman can be considered good.

Why does my hero have to be super? Technically, only one superhero has been mentioned so far.

Did I mention the Comedian has no superpowers either, just guns and badassery.

So he's not perfect. This is exactly why I like him, hes not a nice person, but hes considered a "good guy" by the public.

Dr Manhattan is also to blame there, as Eddie Blake states he have could stopped it in any infinite number of ways. One almost wonders if he shot at her just to see if Jon would stop him.

I've always been partial to Iron Man - good thing the movie was awesome!

Other than that, I loved Cloak & Dagger and the original Spider Woman (Jessica Drew).

I'm by no means condoning anything he did, but he is my favourite because like batman he could realistically exist, but doing messed up things in the name of the government.

agreed, I have no idea why the others didn't kick that psycho off their team. Murdering pregnant chicks, attempting to rape your team mates and gunning down protesters aren't usually the achievements of a hero.

P.S, dude your avatar is freaky

I used to read my Dad's old DC comics from the 60s and 70s and the one hero that really stood out in those was The Shadow. The first hero I read about that was willing to use obviously lethal force (a pair of handguns), also I liked the fact that his secret identity was strongly hinted at but never actually revealed to the reader.
The Shadow seemed to be a bit 'Lawful Neutral', which sometimes bordered on the anti-heroic. For a kid who loved the Elric novels, and anti-heroes in general this was all gravy to me.

I think the crowning moment of awesome for me, as a kid, was when I read the Shadow was pursuing a villain up an old building and encountered a Spanish-speaking henchman along the way. The henchman sees the Shadow's mask slip and screams something in Spanish (It was probably something inane, but as a kid who didn't speak Spanish, this was cool to me.) and is promptly slain by the Shadow who mutters "You know too much..."

The film of The Shadow was terrible, and I'm not sure if he continues to be a character who is still around to this day or not. My interest in comics waned after I was about 12 or so and no longer living with my Dad.

I do remember there was a Batman\Shadow crossover comic once where a young Bruce Wayne encounters the Shadow and then Batman investigates a series of killings which remind him of the encounter.
Again, it's probably terrible by today's standards, but this was mind-blowing stuff to me as a young lad.

Sorry, I've gone and rambled on again, haven't I?

I'll just close by saying that the the runners up to my fave were Black Canary (may have just been the outfit, though...), Hal Jordan\Green Lantern, and Green Arrow.

True shooting a pregnant woman may seem OTT, but it is included to show his darker and corrupt side, knowing the darkness of mankind. Personally, I prefer Rorschach, as he is symbolic of the little man being more powerful than the strongest politician, in the way that his mask changes, showing that he could be anyone in the silent majority- or the silent majority united-, but also the fact the he is very short compared to all the other super heroes, yet he is one of the most feared and courageous of them.

Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men?

The Shadow knows.

But yeah Batman, the cheap knockoff is cool too *g*.

Ha!! Rocko's Modern Life FTW!!! (I never watch Ren and Stimpy as a kid, it freaked me out... >_>) Also Battle Angel Alita!!

Ahem, anyway, my favorite super heroes are the X-Men. :p Of the millions and millions of mutants Marvel has put out over the years my top three are Chamber (Gen X), Gambit, and Emma Frost.
