Favorite Superhero.

Alright, let's get the elephants out of the way. No Batman and no Deadpool. It hurts me too, but seriously, that's all this thread will have. 95% Batman and Deadpool. 5% other. Let's make this as diverse as possible. Also, try to explain why they're you're favorite.

My favorite super hero from DC would be Red Robin and from Marvel is Gambit.

Red Robin
I like Tim Drake from the stature that he is similar to Batman but also differs...He has to juggle is life more than Batman for sure, and still has to deal with similar griefs and loses. I've spent several posts explaining why I like Tim but in short, he's a troubled guy that manages to look ahead and deal with it. That's something to look up to and admire.

Gambit
Gambit is my favorite marvel hero mainly because of how he's played off as an ex-con so to speak. Not to mention using cards as weapons? Pretty badass. Aside from that, his character is pretty intelligent and agile, a style of character I like personally. His loyalty is definitely questionable to the X-Men and anyone he is allied with, and he is most definitely one of the cleverest heroes I've seen.

Luke Cage

I have an appreciation for relatively unknown superheroes and his concept of "Hero For Hire." Sweet Christmas!

Very interesting choice...He is an interesting character, I'll give you that. I see why you like him. I suppose you like Deadpool then too? Atleast when he was still "unknown." Honestly, I like Deadpool and all but he just SCREAMS 90's to me, and it really just puts me off...

Although he isn't my favorite Marvel Character, yes. Spiderman is a great superhero. I have a friend at this school here that loves Spiderman and he was bullied for it because "Spiderman's for kids." No...he's not...As Linkara said his life is nothing but misery and death. People die around Spiderman, fact. It's not a pleasant tale. But just like how I like Tim Drake, Spiderman copes with it and pushes on.

I didn't list Deadpool 'cause I consider him well-known and it would go against my appreciation for relatively unknown superheroes (plus, you said no Deadpool, haha). But in all seriousness, I do like Deadpool though 'cause how he breaks the fourth wall all the time. Is that what you meant when you said he screams '90s to you?

No actually, that's what I like about him. The 90's factor is his "badassness" such as launching nukes at the Hulk. That's something I expect from the 90's, you know the over-the-top EXTREME 90's. I go to Deadpool for humor. I go to his DC counterpart Deathstroke for badassery.

Gotta go with the Scarlet Speedster:

I love this guy, especially how he was portrayed in the Justice League cartoon. Plus, in my opinion, he's probably the most overpowered superhero ever.

I mean, he can outrun bullets, vibrate his body through solid matter, make said matter EXPLODE if he wants to, time travel, and punch you 3000 times before you can blink.

Also, Deadpool and Batman are cool, but neither are my favorite. Batman is my number 3, and I feel like Deadpool is a bit overhyped (not saying he's bad, though).

Since you exclude Batman then I go for Spiderman. I don't read comicbook so I don't know the other heroes in depth other than their animated form (I grew up watching the 90's Spiderman).

Easily the Flash. More specifically, Wally West. The other Flashes are good too, but Wally West really broke the mold for sidekicks everywhere. He debuted in the Silver age as Kid Flash, fought alongside Robin and Speedy and the others, and after coming out of disease induced retirement took up the mantle of THE Flash, filling the shoes of his now dead mentor, something few, if any, former sidekicks have ever done. And after that? He surpassed Barry. I can't think of ANY former sidekicks who have ever fully stepped out of the shadow of their mentors. Even Dick Grayson, while an admirable and respectable Batman, could never surpass Bruce Wayne, and he knew it. But Wally earned the the title "Scarlet Speedster" and owns the name Flash just as much, if not more, than Barry Allen.

Second favorite is Superman. Don't feel like writing a whole nother paragraph explaining why.

My favorite is Colossus. On a basic level, he's a man made of metal, which is innately awesome, but he's a good guy who's very empathetic. He's an artist, but he's not afraid to pound a guy in the face until he stops moving. It's a shame he never really gets the face time of Cyclops or Wolverine (who get entirely too much face time).

My other Marvel favorites are Spiderman, She-Hulk, Captain America, Jamie Madrox, Spiderwoman, Luke Cage, and Molly Hayes. Outside of Marvel, I like the Question, Green Arrow, Barbara Gordon, Death, and Bigby Wolf. (the last couple aren't traditional caped fighters, but interdimensional adventurers should get a nod)

I'm actually a fan of Superman. I find his more thought out stories show him as more vulnerable and human than most heroes. That and he's basically a Super Saiyan.

Spider-Man:
When handled by the right writer, he's the most balanced, responsible, one can relate to, and one of the most human characters to relate to. Despite everyone underestimating him, he still finds a way to come out on top.

Batman:
A person who's been so torn by crime he should have become the Punisher. Yet he didn't, he overcame his free and continues his struggles to find the good in everyone, even if he has become a bit more jaded and paranoid.

Luke Cage:
Sweet Christmas, nuff said.

Ms Marvel:
Oh boy, has she got an interesting back story. Yet like Spidey, despite all those things that happened to her (Turned into a meta human, mind controlled and sexually abused, infected by the brood) she still kept it together and became one of the best female characters in comics everywhere.

Wonder Woman:
How can you not like an amazonian princess who stands for truth? Forget that lousy tv pilot attempt. Wonder Woman is kind, compassionate and endearing. She'll defend those who need and help guide others.

Black Cat:
She used to just be a hot fling for Spidey but after reading Kevin Smith's "The Evil that Men do" I sympathized with her and than began to respect her. She needs to be Spidey's beat up buddy more, they make a good duo.

From Milestone Media, this Superman clone is one of the highlights of 90s comic books. He is basically Superman, but conservative. His inclusion into the DC universe after Final Crisis was a welcome surprise to me. It was even more out of left field when he appeared on Young Justice. It took me a few viewing before I said, "holy shit. That's Icon!"

Meggan Braddock

The wife of Captain Britain, Meggan is the definition of power creep. When she was first introduced, she only had the FISS powers (Flight, Invulnerable, Super Strength), Empathy, and Shapechange. Her Empathy originally allowed her to read minds and that is it. Now it allows her to talk to air molecules to freeze air around a person, convince trees to grow faster, talk to magnetic fields to stop bullets, and pretty much everything you can think of.

Because it is the Marvel Universe, She spent some time in Hell. She managed to piss off the named lords of Hell because she was not really bummed out by it. Somehow, she got the ability to channel her empathy outward and used it to amass an army of demons who happily conquered 10 percent of hell for her.

That makes her the only character I know that conquered hell through the power of love and positive thinking.

Jonah Hex

Not really a superhero, unless you count never missing as a superpower. Jonah hex puts on a brash and arrogant demeanor so people do not get close to him. He believes in Punisher style justice and making sure the people that deserves it dies. he accepts money because he has a reputation to keep, but he is just as quick to get rid of it discretely. Also, All Star western is the only new 52 comic I still read after 7 issues. Mostly because I do not want to buy a lot of things that
