Kind of a weird question as I don't know if many people here played any of the Tony Hawk games, but which one was your favorite? As a kid I played the shit out of Pro Skater 3, 4 and Underground. Pro Skater 3 was definetely my favorite.

I'll second Pro Skater 2, it's the one I grew up with.

4 was great as well, but I'd say THUG 2 is probably the highest quality of the bunch. I haven't played all of them, but I understand that after THUG 2 the franchise stumbled down a bit with American Wasteland and then started nosediving after that as far as quality was concerned.

THUG 2 is my favorite, it had the most fluid skating, best levels (Pro Skater is such a stupidly awesome level) and the Havoc events are a fun little thing.

I've only played Project 8 and American Wasteland. American Wasteland blew the other away. Amazing story, fun gameplay, and at the time for me, really funny. The custom parks you could build were pretty awesome too.

My two favourites were probably Pro Skater 3 and THUG. Loved those games, and the soundtracks in every game I played was amazing. I firmly believe the majority of my musical tastes are thanks to the Tony Hawk games.

My vote would be for Tony Hawk Underground. I haven't played the second game in the franchise, but I did like the idea of making your own skater and propelling him/her to stardom. I haven't played that many of the Tony Hawk games as I am not really into skateboarding so my experience with the franchise is quite limited.

Pro Skater 3 was my favourite. That game was awesome fun, and the soundtrack was fucking amazing. I also really liked Underground. I never played any of the more recent ones though.

I'd have to go with THUG 2. It had great replayability and I played it at the right age so all the music seemed really cool to me. I doubt I would have ever gotten into many of the bands I like today without that game.

I played the crap out of Pro Skater 3, Rodney Mullen is the best. Also, Darth Maul.
Mindblowed my little head back in the day. Still impressed.

Pro Skater 2 had a great soundtrack as well.

THUG1 and 2 are my faves although till this day Im still wondering what the use of driveable vehicles in THUG1 was. Loved the havoc events in THUG2. Both had a solid soundtrack (srsly In Flames in THUG). Hey and you could always make your own silly (although limited) park when you were tired of the 'parks' the games offered.

American Wasteland was fun aswell, unfortunately I found a glitch that removes a complete level in story mode, stranding you if you missed anything there.

Mine's gotta be American Wasteland
Had a really smooth feel to the gameplay, and pretty decent BMX controls (i was dying for a new matt hoffman-esque game)

Honorable mention to THUG as it really changed the series for the better.

THUG (Tony Hawk's Underground), not to be mistaken with THUG 2.

Why?

- Introduction of the rail tool in the park creator.
- Introducing the system where you can activate jobs by talking to people, instead of the timer running as soon as you start a level.
- Introducing the fact that you can actually get off your board. Took us five games, wow.
- A story. Sure, it's not The Godfather or Old Boy, but it is nonetheless a story. I like stories.

Also, great music and level design, but that was kind of a trend in old Tony Hawk games.
(What was up with the cars though?)

I think the first underground was my favorite. Really took the game from an arcade challenge game to a full fledged story that retained all the good gameplay and added more in. Seemed to start going downhill from there though.

I'm going to go with what seems to be majority opinion here and say either Pro Skater 2 or THUG 2 are my favorites with each one being my favorite in the series in their respective generation.

pro skater 2 was the first I played and I still think it's the best. American wasteland wasn't what you'd call 'good' per se, but it was so much fun in it's own stupid cartoony way.

Although I played "Skateboarding" (PAL regions yeeees) first, "Pro Skater 2" was definitely the best. Expanding on the great formula from the first one and adding things like a level editor and the manual which allowed huge combos, it was certainly hard to be. Even though I had the neutered N64 version, the music kicked arse too.

OT: Tony Hawk's Underground... Despite some of the story-based objectives getting on my nerves at times, the tricks you could pull off were awesome, the soundtrack was boss, and it was the first game I played where my character looked almost like me to a T...

I remember when my mom was playing THUG and kept on grinding on the cars on accident, all while asking me "Are you hearing what I think I'm hearing?"

I don't think I even answered that question once...
