Western/SciFi/Comedy/drama/action/excellent/etc: Firefly

The Simpsons is the greatest show there is!
It has so many awesome characters!
And even though the quality has gone
downhill in later years it still can beat
most of the garbage on TV. It rules.

Stargate SG-1

Atlantis and Universe are good.

But nothing beats Jack O'Neill!

I've really got into Heroes (late, I know...) so I'd say that's my favourite right now.
Mighty Boosh and Top Gear are up there. Anything on Dave Basically.

IMO? Watch it a lot now
otherwise all of the spoilers
will be many and disastrous.

Don't know if it counts but I'm currently rewatching Bleach on hulu.
I also like: How I met your mother, Scrubbs, Two and a half men and I enjoyed Prison break to a certain extend, even though I lost track of what's going on by episode 13 of the first season.

NCIS
I love the team, the plot lines aren't always the same and when they replace a character they have a different role/personality to whom they replaced.
The off shoot in LA isn't bad but it isn't what I like.

I'm sorry but, WHY DIDN'T YOU SAY DOCTOR WHO?!?!?!?! That frightens me TimeLord...a lot...

I do second your suggestions though, though I wouldn't call Universe, y'know, good. Forced drama (the first episode, the governor, réally?), characters that get on your nerves, bad dialogue. Yet I keep watching and watching, out of sheer morbid curiosity. Come to think of it, I haven't seen a new episode in quite some time. Better go look for them.
SG1 is completely freakin' fantastic though.

Anyway, I don't have a single favourite TV show, but among my favourites are:
- Mad Men
- Doctor Who
- Battlestar Galactica (new series)
- Firefly
- Legend Of The Seeker
- 30 Rock
- Arrested Development
- Stargate SG1
- Farscape
- My Name is Earl
- The Office US (haven't seen the UK version yet)
- QI
- Have I Got News For You
- Nevermind The Buzzcocks
- Scrubs

And I have yet to watch a few shows that seem to appeal to me, like The IT Crowd. I probably forgot some others too, my memory is shit.

This not counting cartoons/anime either.

Whose Line is it anyway.

Or if we can only use shows that are still on the air, then Mock the Week (both, oddly enough, made by the same people)

Battlestar Galactica, 30 Rock, Mad Men, The West Wing, Boston Legal, Arrested Development. There are quite a few other excellent shows.
