The anime? Why, were they expecting the sex to stay in?

The only eroge anime adaptation I've seen do anything like that is Shingetsutan Tsukihime, and even then it was only implication.

Don't forget, I live in the community of the university that banned the play in that other thread in the Religion section.

They watched it in the end though.

I would definitely expect such from an eroge that wasn't all about the sex. Visual novels live and die by their stories, after all, with or without erotic content, so the better examples of the medium I would say certainly (even inevitably) compare favorably to other types of video games.

Maybe I just never played enough of them. However, the story of F/SN is pretty high on my list on great stories from any medium.

If you haven't tried Tsukihime, I recommend that, too. Same guys who did Fate.

And I'm slowly working through a list of eroge, looking for more. So far, A Drug That Makes You Dream and Kanon are the ones that have impressed me the most (though they're in quite a different...genre, if you will, from F/SN), but I've heard really good things about other titles I plan to get to.

There is that, true. Hell, with that in mind, he really does follow sort of the story path of an eroge love interest...

Oh please. Keep in mind, he's clearly Rin's love interest. Rin's got a whole harem in that route (Shirou, Archer, Saber, and even Lancer).

Yeah, kinda funny how most eroge adaptations have nothing in the anime that make you think it was based on an eroge.

I would assume that's deliberate, really. The whole point of the adaptations seems to be to widen the demographic and sell more, so you'd want underage people to buy and watch, too.

And to be honest, while some eroge lose something without their sex scenes, <url=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.163769-Neutral-Drow-reviews-Kanon>some games don't really suffer at all.

It drives me NUTS that there isn't a sequel to Republic Commando. I was extremely surprised by just how much kick-ass that game turned out to be. My vote goes to... er... let's say Dante from DMC.

My farvorite is Sev(AKA Delta 1207), from Republic Commando. In case you can't read, he's the guy on the left.
He's so bad ass, he got his paint scheme from a time when he killed someone and then literally put their hand on his helmet while they were dying, letting the blood make patterns on his armor. Then he repainted it when it started to fade.

Also, Scorch, from the same game. Hillarious!

In fact, I'm going to provide some quotes, because I am that obsessed, then I'm going to play Republic Commando for the millionth time.
