Now I know that these threads are posted all the time but I didn't see one recently so i figured what the hell can't hurt to post. Basically just curious to see who people's favorite villians are. Whether it's a "this villian is so badass" approach or an "I love to stomp this villians face in" approach or anything in between. Who is your favorite villian and why?

To kick it off I will supply one from each of those categories.

Favorite Villian because he's a badass- Albert Wesker

Favorite Villian to repeatedly trounce until he is totally dead- Imran Zakhaev

Resident Evil series and Modern Warfare respectively. Honestly I can't tell you why I like Albert Wesker so much. Something about him just screams badass to me. And Imran, well I have yet to find a better fuck you moment when killing a villian in any game yet.

My favorite as a character is Andrew Ryan. He's just so cool and memorable that it's almost impossible to forget about him.

My favorite to kill and beat the crap out is the Riddler. I hated him in Batman AA and I was overjoyed to see him get rushed by the cops.

Favorite Badass Villain: Golbez (FFIV) - A villain so badass that he doesn't even bother to kill you himself; he lets his pet dragon do it for him.

Favorite Villain to Stomp: Glass Joe (Punch-Out!!) - I don't know if he really counts as a villain, per se, but I sure do love mashing his face into pulp.

Damn you ninjas!! *Shakes fist*

I'll go with another BioShock villain, the true villain of BioShock

Atlas/Fontaine.

He spends the whole game earning your trust and being helpful then he turns on you [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vys7bCQHKTI]

Saren, from Mass Effect. Even though we could have used more of him for the purpose of rounding out his character a bit more fully, I felt he carried a great presence in every scene he was in; his conflicts with Shepard, Sovereign, and himself, are all set up well. It's hard to make a threatening and destructive villain believably sympathetic, but the writers pulled it off. His suicide scene does justice to the character as well; that scene and the one on Virmire managed to put a lot into a few minutes, and his moral ambiguity was engaging, rather than coming across as half-assed. A whole novel by the game's lead writer also gave a lot a insight into the character.

My personal favorite villan is Arthas of WoW. True, the Old Gods may be cooler, but Arthas had an interesting backstory and motivation to becoming a servant of evil.

To this day, I swear Episode III of Star Wars is Warcraft 3 IN SPACE.

343 Guilty Spark, because the Master Chief essentially gets punished for blindly following him around like a moron. (Not to mention it's satisfying to finally blow his ass up with an ultra-laser after following him for 3 fucking games.)

The Joker (as the animated version voiced by Mark Hamill)*. His trademark laugh and psychotic behavior have always stood out to me, in ways that would take pages of explanation.

*Apparently I'm one of the few people in the world who thought that Heath Ledger sucked as the Joker, and the latest incarnation failed on an epic level to capture the true psychotic, yet artistic, criminal mind that is the Joker. Nicholson did great, on the other hand.

He annoyed me from the beginning and I was hoping I'd get to stab him. Wishes sometimes do come true.

Unfortunately, it's hard to ask me for favorite villains when I'm a writer and I've made my own. Still, I'll give some decent answers here.

For just a damn good actual villain, I want to enter The Overmind, the actual heart of the Zerg. For why? Heh, because he was suppose to be the central intellect of the Zerg, immortal and highly capable. Thing about Kerrigan is that she's more of a default Overmind rather than a real one. If another one grew in her place - and I believe it could, even without cerebrates - she would lose everything. Still, the Overmind is the controlling and strategic armchair villain of Starcraft, the only properly inhuman intellect in the series because it was never characterized as anything more than a massive thinking structure which uses Zerg like a billion remote fingers.

For the villain I like to beat up, I pick Dr. Wily. He's a mad scientist with evil robots and technology well beyond the age of mankind in his time period. So popular, he rated a ninth game, not counting spinoffs. He really should've had a triumphant and terrifying return in the Megaman X series, one with a whopping 16 Reploid-type Masters all infected with varients of the Zero Virus. The man was definitely IN the Reploid era, but Capcom never EVER really built on that. He should've been hell for Sigma, and then we could try out Sigma as a playable character once and it would be awesome. But as it stands, I like being the hero against Wily.

The Riddler has to be one of the more cheekier villains but he continues to actually want to be found setting up a unique and elaborate trail of clues and puzzles that only a brilliant mind would work out...... Either that or Darth Vader.

As horribly lame as I am for saying it, Sephiroth. He revolutionized what being a bad-ass was and sparked the trend of long silver-haired bad guys who try to match his epic cruelty. He was easily the best villain ever created for fantasy games. And he alone was able to sell a movie just for a five minute fight at the very end where he just shows up and says a couple things, also creating one of the most epic famouse last words ever. He was just epic, and out of villains, in terms of bad-assery, I have yet to see one match him. This is, however, going to be frowned upon. ^-^

As my favorite villain to trounce, I'd have to go with Ansem from KH1. The fight was just fun, and Ansem was pretty cool.

As a character, I can't think of anything other than Shodan. So evil and malevolent, yet you can't deny her terms

as someone i'd like to curb stomp, there's Seymore.. or whatever the hell his name was..
