Joey Ramone - Ramones
Jello Biafra - Dead Kennedys
Hank von Helvete - Turbonegro

Why do people list different death metal singers when they all sound the same?

Probably Eddie Vedder.
Yep

Mike Patton - Faith No More (and vanity projects)
Layne Staley - Alice in Chains (and Mad Season)
Eddie Vedder - Pearl Jam
Terry Reid - (a.k.a. Superlungs (he's the guy from Devil's Rejects soundtrack.))
Thom Yorke - Radiohead

Mike Patton can sing anything, however he wants (I have proof). Top of my list.

Akerfeldt? Really? Since when has heavy metal ever been about singing your children lullabies? And his growls sound like somebody breathing into the mic. Seriously, plug a microphone in, breathe some Opeth lyrics into it and you're well on your way to becoming the most successful Opeth cover band in your town.

And while I'm at it, why not raise this pony a couple inches.

@Those who said Angela Gossow: I think she might beat out Cynic's first album for 'most robotic vocal performance in metal'.

@Those who said Phil Anselmo: I'll give you Down. Everything else (Pantera especially), get a pig and kick him in the dick. Voila, you've got your new frontman for that Pantera cover you want to play at your next show.

@Those who said Randy Blythe (particularly the one who said 'the best vocals in modern metal'): Raise your standards, listen to Cephalic Carnage and Pig Destroyer and hail Satan, etc.

I also forgot Tim Owens(Best singer Iced Earth ever had), Don Doty/Ron Rinehart(Dark Angel, Bobby Blitz(Overkill), Harry Conklin(Jag Panzer) and John Tardy(Obituary).

James LaBree and Chester Bennington and Mike Shinoda from Linkin Park.
The range of their voice may not be incredible, but I just like they're singing.
