Dead Money's Auto-Rifle. Nothing decimates the Quarry-horde of Deathclaws quite like it.
That or the golden gloves. Who doesn't love knocking some dope off of his feet?
Oh Baby! was infinately more useful though.

For Fallout 3? Geez, that game had better armors and more functioning weapons, but it wasn't very flashy.
I'd say the Blackhawk and the Combat Shotgun were my two most used.

The Bozar from FO2, especially when you give one to Marcus!*
*Do not attempt as a melee focused character
Also do not use if you have any other companions besides Marcus. Whenever i gave Marcus any kind of burst fire weapon, Cassidy would die at the beginning of the next random encounter.

OT: Turbo Plasma Rifle from Fallout 1 and 2 (a.k.a. Plasma Caster with accelerator mod in New Vegas). Honorable mention to Pew Pew in New Vegas (especially after the most recent patch); with all the crit boost perks and Laser Commander this is brutal.

So much fun...
Fun, but terribly unreliable. Sure, it's amazing if you use it at noon... but early morning or late evening, you might as well be using a squirt gun (and not the squirt gun from Tactics, either...). ...which i now realize was idiotic of me to point out, since it's the first thing it mentions in the Vault entry. Oops.

Winchester Model 70 aka. Hunting Rifle.

Either in .308 Winchester or .325 Winchester short magnum (in Fallout3 it's chambered for .32rimfire, but .325WSM is the real world version of the .32 chambering) it gets the job done and it's the most reliable weapon for long wasteland treks.

I have three I love equally.

The All American
The Anti-Material Rifle
The Experimental MIRV

They are all awesome.

A .357 with the works. Long barrel, reinforced chamber, etc. I like the Ranger Sequoya as much as the next guy, but when it comes to availability, maintainability, and bad-assedness I can't put it down. Plus I think it comes out better than a fully-modded .44, because the .44 has got next to no mods, or they're hard to get.

Call me boring, but probably the standard hunting rifle from Fallout 3. It's accurate, does decent damage and it's easy to find ammo for it. It's saved my worthless hide plenty of times early on in my explorations of the Wasteland.

Gauss Minigun.

But it is from FT:BoS, so I assume I should GTFO.
Just call it Tactics. Adding the BoS tends to cause people to confuse that game with the atrocious BoS console games. Tactics may not have been canon, or an RPG, but it was still a damn good game.

Mine would be the simple laser rifle from fallout 3 and new vegas. Im a big Warhammer 40k fan and I always imagined the 'crack of a lasgun' to sound like a Fallout laser rifle. :)

YCS/186. Instant death and hilarious ragdolling to anyone, anywhere. Although the matter modulator is pretty fun too from a "walk into a legion camp and instantly disintegrate everyone" perspective if you build your character to use it.

The hunting rifle. That bad boy remained my best friend throughout my entire adventure through the wastes. Oh, and Dogmeat. :)

My Hunting Rifle was my companion throughout Fallout 3, stayed that way right up until Broken Steel and from them on I switched to Plasma Rifles and Power Armour.

AER14 Prototype, a good versitile weapon. It has accuracy, you can spam shots, it has high durability and does good damage. The only downside is it only has 24 shots and takes 2 ammo per shot and for energy weapon nuts that sucks, the ammo isn't cheap. Though I usually keep a ripper for close quarter combat, the YCS/186 for sniping, Pew Pew if they get into sawn off shotgun range and the AER12 Prototype for everything else. All in my non-faction T-51b Power Armor.

Though now I'm giving Gannon's Tesla Armor a spin. With the plasma caster for heavy hitters, the plasma defender for weak enemies that I don't want to waste the more expensive ammo on and the multipass rifle (need a new energy weapon, combine 3 rifles and you get one) for mid to short range combat, along with the ripper.

The Holorifle. It's stronger than the Gauss rifle (if you get all the mods) and uses only 1/5 of the ammo for 1 shot!
Unfortunatly it's a reskinned Grenade Launcher, I thought that was pretty lazy of them.

Here's proof.

Honestly? The Chinese Pistol.

It sucked ass, but I found it much better looking and much nicer sounding than the standard pistol, or any of the revolvers, to the point where I was seriously considering downloading a mod that upped its damage so that I could use it.
I did that maybe within two hours of owning the game, I downloaded some mods that gave the .32 Revolver and the Chinese Pistol a decent buff, so that they weren't ammo wasters.

OT: The Heavy Incinerator. An accurate napalm launcher with a fast reload and splash damage? I fell in love in seconds.

The Gauss Rifle, partly because it's awesome, and partly because I used it to kill Frank Horrigan at the end of Fallout 2 with a shot to the eyes. Best way to kill a final boss in that game.
