I've seen some good webcomics listed on this thread- some of them I love. Gunnerkrigg Courty beats them all.

Freefall!

The story begins with captain Sam Starfall (a merrily corrupt, cowardly kleptomaniac hailing from an alien culture where these are considered the most admirable of virtues), his loyal robot sidekick Helix (with the strenght of a hydraulic jack and the personality of an impressionable child), and their attempts to get their long disused spaceship The Savage Chicken back in flying order.

In order to accomplish this, Sam arranges for a skilled engineer to be "mistakenly" assigned to The Savage Chicken. Enter Florence Ambrose: Genetically engineered wolf/human hybrid, the sort of creature that furries would call an "anthro" and non-furries would call a furry. Raised by humans, she is supremely intelligent, and her views on appropriate behaviour are pretty much polar opposites of Sam's. She gets the Chicken flying soon enough - but also finds herself saddled with the far more challenging task of keeping Sam and Helix in line!

Much of the comedy comes from the ways in which these three wildly different personalities play off each other, but the author is a big fan of advanced science, and builds many of his gags around really complicated scientific matters. What impresses me the most about Freefall, is that the science behind these gags is presented so well that any layperson can understand it more than well enough to get the joke!

The archives may be found here [http://freefall.purrsia.com/archives/arcd1998/carc1998.htm] -

- and here [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Webcomic/Freefall?from=Main.Freefall] is the TV Tropes page, which is probably a far better introduction to the comic than my above ramblings.

I liked the Oatmeal, back when it was a Webcomic with a shop. Now its an Online shop that occasionally also gives you a funny picture -_-

Apart from that: PennyArcade and ThePerryBibleFellowship. Explosm and amazingsuperpowers is cool too.

Our New Electrical Morals! Hence why a character from it is my avatar. :p

I discovered it and the sheer nonsense that constitutes its humour just sucked me in. I read all the comics right from the first one immediately, and found every one of them hilarious (especially the first few, they're the best). I still find them just as funny whenever I reread them now. Seriously just go look: http://vectorbelly.com/electrical1.html

Oh, and a softer world is fantastic too. Sometimes hilarious, sometimes just a simple statement that seems incredibly true. http://asofterworld.com/index.php?id=817

Aaaaaand Subnormality, as someone already mentioned, is incredible if you've got a lot of time on your hands (I have). Some of the early ones that are a bit shorter are brilliant too: http://www.viruscomix.com/page380.html

Both have awesome stories and art, and horrible, horrible update schedules.
Yes! Someone else who loves the Meek. I am starting to wonder if it's ever gonna be updated though.
Think i saw something about late october somewhere... So there is hope, during this seemingly eternal hiatus.

No Homestuck? Seriously, NO HOMESTUCK?!

Let me tell you about Homestuck. [http://mspaintadventures.com/scraps2/homestuckKS.html]

This shit is awesome. And honestly, I think it reigns supreme in terms of webcomics. Yes, Lackadaisy and Ever After DO have better art. But their stories are nowhere near as complicated, convoluted, or downright wacky as Homestuck.

The kicker? Homestuck usually updates pretty damn regularly.

Ah The Meek. That one?s great too, I almost instantly fell in love with Luca and Phe (naturally I fall in love with the antagonist and
someone who dies
*headdesk*) but it hasn?t updated in so long.

Found the notification, t'was on the facebook page:

"As of today, I'm done with 10 straight months of heavy freelance on top of my day job ;__; Taking on so much work was one of the worst decisions in recent memory, and I've paid for it in quite a few ways. I'm going to take a few weeks to get my health and shit back together and get back in my quality groove... Regular weekly Meek updates begin again on Oct 15. "

And it's not even late october! Oh joyous day!

Considering I've only read about 3 webcomics, I have to say Homestuck, with fairly lively characters, an interesting plot, interesting locations, a decent sense of humor, etc. That's pretty much the only webcomic I regularly read, though I read most of the Nerf Now backlog, and the final comic I didn't even bother with, it just felt too boring, and the characterization felt mishandled. In Homestuck, at least, we learned something about the characters before sh*t hit the fan. In the other one, sh*t hit the fan before the comic even began...

I'd say my current favorite is [link]http://www.spinnyverse.com/[/link] great superhero spoof that manages to get some surprisingly well done characters in.
