Favorite WRPG of all time?

I've played a lot more JRPGs than I have western, but I'm starting to get into them more. At this point not sure what my favorite is. What's yours?

That's a tough one since I have a lot of games that I like but im not sure whether I could consider them RPGs or not.

I would say Dark souls but im pretty sure that's Japanese so i'll go with Dragon age: Origins. Off the top of my head that is probably my favorite RPG that I would count as a pure RPG(Pure meaning not partly an action game or something).

Probably KoTOR. No, definitely KoTOR. Deus Ex 1 is a very close second though.

Mass Effect series.

I say this because (a) it really is my favourite and (b) it annoys the crap out of some people.

Knights of the Old Republic 2. Proving that Obsidian can take a Bioware RPG and make it better. Then they did it again with Neverwinter Nights 2, specifically Mask of the Betrayer.

Hmmm struggling here ah sod it ill say Oblivion as I really did love it and it carves its own niche but I havent played Planescape, Skyrim, Deux ex or Vampire bloodlines the masquerade yet and I really want to (especially the last one) but I do consider the best JRPGS superior to the best WRPGS generally.

Probably Morrowind (although there's a distinction between "my favorite," "best," and even "the one I think will likely be someone else's favorite.")

Definitely Fallout: New Vegas.

I never expected I would love the whole "rebuilding of civilisation and society" aspect of it so much.

I'd have to at least partially agree with Mass Effect. Maybe Dragon Age.

Pretty much just these two games, KOTOR and Guild Wars. I haven't play Mass Effect jsut yet thought.

Baldurs Gate 2: Shadows of Amn. Still the kind of rpgs, fantastic combat, characters and story with loads of content and given the recent Mass Effect ending...a really really satisfying ending to the series.

Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines is a close second.

Might and Magic 7, it's old and looks like arse, but I really love it. Other M&M games are good, but 7 is where it really hit me. First WRPG I played, cost me 50 pence, love it!

Wild Arms counts as a western rpg right? Ok yeh that's probably too japanese influenced.

Baldurs Gate series or Vampire the Masquerade seem solid enough choices so will go for those.

At the moment, Mass Effect 3. Ticks all the boxes for me, exploration, decent action scenes, good story, Martin Sheen.

Six way tie between Morrowind, Witcher 2, Fallout 3, New Vegas, Oblivion and Skyrim? Yeah, I'm a bit of a Bethesda fanboy. Despite that, I'll probably have to go with New Vegas for combining the epic freeroam nature of Beth's games and the great writing of Obsidian.

Amen, brother! Same here - first one I played (I don't consider Diablo more than hack&slash game) and I still love it. I still replay M&M7 whenever I get hit by nostalgia. Usually at least once a year I boot it up and do at least two complete playthroughs (light/dark side but I may also do something different like a party of dark magicians and a mixed dark party). Ah Emerald Isle, how I miss thee.

Other than that, definitely Bloodlines. Also, Morrowind.
