Everything's being remade or reimagined or whatever the hell you want to call it these days. Godzilla, Power Rangers, Transformers, etc and sometimes it's great! For example, the new TMNT cartoon is pretty good, at least, I think so.

Other times, you get someone to reimagine things in a really faithful way. Sometimes, you get this

So what's the best thing from your childhood that you've seen updated? It's a nice change from complaining about how a movie studio "raped your childhood."

Eventhough it's likely going to suck (sorry OP), the trailer for the new CGI Peanuts movie looks great.

The biggest point in its favor obviously being the "crude" animation. It captures so much of the soul of the old cartoons, and it's something you wouldn't expect with CGI, which is always so desperate to look as sleek and sexy as possible.

Spectacular Spider-Man probably. I grew up on the 90s series and it still holds up today, but I'll be the first to admit it had noticeable problems such as overuse of stock footage post-season 1, irregular scheduling and extremely heavy censorship. Spectacular was an improvement in nearly every way, particularly the action scenes and the handling of Eddie Brock and Dr. Octopus.

It's still not something I would advocate to anyone over 10, but by all indications from the latest series, RPM, Power Rangers has slowly evolved from the ridiculous Sentai cheesefest that I knew. The foundation is still there and everything remains spectacularly hammy, but I recently stumbled upon a Youtube collection dealing with the character arcs of the various villains, and Ransik's actually interested me. Though that might be because unlike most of the villains he's not a rubber costume.
