Cheesecake.
Typically the unbaked variety, that is. I choose this desert because it is light, creamy, with often a strong accenting of delicious all-naturalé fruit, whereas the base is savoury and crunchy. The best of both worlds in the same dish. A wonderful, wonderful coalescence of flavours and textures that provide relief from the meatier main course - or a devilish diversion from hunger pains as a cheeky snack.
Apparently, it even has its own unofficial day in the United States as July 30th according to Wikipedia. What deserts do 'you' know that has its own unofficial holiday? Yeah, I thought so!
