Hiya escapists.

Fairly self explanatory, really: Post your favourite fruit, berry and vegetable.

Fruit: Mango - It has an amazing taste and consistency, and those little barbs in the meat that graze my tongue.
Berry: Blueberries - Great taste, and can be found all around the forest, making for great rejuvenation when on a trip.
Vegetable: Iceberg salad - Mild, fresh and crispy.

For added discussion value: Should we classify things as fruits/vegetable/berries based on the common gut feeling, or on the scientific definition? For instance, bananas, kiwis and tomatoes are per definition berries, but we usually call these fruits. Which term is correct?

Fruit: Pear - I've always liked pears, not sure why, but the juicy taste and semi-squishy texture just suit me.
Berry: Raspberry - Sweet and satisfying. Goes well with other berries or fruit.
Vegetable: Mushrooms (not that kind, silly) - Mostly Shiitake, but almost any edible mushroom goes good with salad, stir fry, noodles, or in a soup.

As far as calling them what they are, I don't think it matters. Bananas and Kiwis have been called fruits more often then I've ever heard them called berries, which is never, and tomatoes get the lovely "Vegetable or fruit" argument started with certain people. So I say stick with what we know.

Fruit: Apples, or strawberries. I can't really give a reason as to why. I just like them, and they're available much more widely than some other fruits, and they taste great. Also, you don't have to peel them or some shit, you just take one, om nom nom it, and whoa-la. Unlike, eh, a banana, that you need to peel and which sticks to your face when you eat it. And unlike a kiwi, for which you need (well, you don't exactly need, but it is preferred) to have a knife, and a spoon.

Berry: Either blueberry, or gooseberry. Blueberries can be found in so many places, and they taste great, but the thing with gooseberries is that they have to be in the right stage of ripeness. If they are, they taste amazing, but if they're too sour, then they aren't really that good.

Vegetable: Tomatoes, no competition. Next would be cucumbers. Tomatoes are almost like fruits, in some way. They taste kind of sweet, and I love their taste. The thing with cucumbers is that cucumbers can often taste pretty tasteless and shit, but if you find the right cucumbers (like I've done), then they're really refreshing, and nice.

Well, strawberries would go under berries (although you're right of course, berries are fruit, so the whole premise is flawed). Tomatoes are not almost like fruits, they are a fruit [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tomato#Fruit_or_vegetable.3F]

OT: fruit - kiwi (but only if they're good, ripe and soft, most kiwis you can buy at the super-market are terrible) or almonds, if you count drupes
berry - raspberries, although it's a shame they spoil so easily
vegetable - red and yellow peppers

Oh, yeah. Messed up with the strawberries there. I can't believe how...

But don't give me that "tomatoes are fruit" bullshit. Just..don't.

Also, eh, I'm not sure about that, but the WikiPedia entry for "fruit" sure does categorize strawberries under fruit.

Fruit: Peaches
Berry: Blueberries. I usually always use them for cooking. I had some amazing ones once fresh. I was astounded. It was such a shame to have to bake them, but it could not be helped. Blueberry cheesecake without blueberries would be lame.
Vegetable: I'm going to say mushrooms even though it's not a vegetable. So there.

This is a strange topic by the way.

Fruit: Mangoes are my favourite as well, but my friend's tell me they're even better in Indonesia, so I must go there and try them sometime.
Berry: Blackberries, even good when they're not quite ripe, and they're great when tossed in a pie after being boiled with sugar.
Vegetable: Green beans xD
