Many games have mythical deities within their stories. Some draw on real religions, others on classic mythology. The ones that I really like, however, are completely original deities for completely original mythologies.

Who's your favourite made-for-game deity (or deities) and why?

My personal favourite is Lunord from "Majesty: A Fantasy Kingdom Sim".
He is the Ardanian deity of the Moon and Wind, son of Krolm, God of Rage, and brother to Helia, the Sun Goddess. As he inevitably feuded with his sister, it was his faction/religion that had the upper hand. After both factions fractured during a Barbarian invasion, the pair reconciled and sired new gods to rule (mythology incest FTW?). In this cataclysm, both of their holy artefacts were lost; only Lunord's was ever recovered. This Holy Chalice was instrumental in inspiring the land's first king, Sydrian, and being a conduit to mortals, alerting them to the new gods. This same chalice also plays a role in saving the current Sovereign (the player) from a deadly illness.

So, in summary:
- God of Wind and the Moon
- Stronger than his sister
- Banged his sister and had kids
- Willingly abdicated his throne
- Recovered his artefact, unlike Helia
- Inspired Sydrian, the first king
- Saved the player via his artefact

Well, the people who made the second game were not the people who made the first. In an effort to "balance" the game, they chose to cut Lunord AND ONLY HIM(!) out of the game. Their in-game reason for this? Attempting to take over the throne HE WILLING GAVE UP and getting cast out of heaven for it.

*deep inhale*

Krolm, God of Rage; Fervus, God of Chaos; Krypta, Goddess of Death; Grum-Gog, God of Pestilence. Any of these deities, I could understand and accept. But Lunord? BULLSHIT! So out of character! I hate you, Paradox Interactive!

AI director comes so close, but in the end it's Master Hand.

In the original smash bros he brought dolls to life only to make them fight, and drop them carelessly on the floor when he was finished.

Master hand is awesome.

Not really a game, more so an RP. The name is Grackorn, god of choas, deciet, illusion, and leader of hell. He was made by a friend of mine and is the most random being I have ever seen. (He made his soldiers go into battle once and have them throw crossbows as weapons.)

Amaterasu. Gotta love a Shinto Sun Goddess when she's all furry and cute and can cleave boulders in twain with a brush.

For me it's the Wise One from Golden Sun. Mostly because it's my favorite RPG, but also because of his immense power and levelheadedness.

Lavos from Chrono Trigger. Though not a god as such, only a malevolent god-like entity that feeds on planets and life on them.

Sheogorath. You know, the scottish madman from The Shiering Isles. Oh how his nonsensical rants made me laugh and chilled me to the bone all at once. Funny, scary, scary, creepy, god. His subjects were pretty interesting too really.

Not really a video game, and not really part of the actual game, but I would say Mega Ultra Chicken from Yu-Gi-Oh! Abridged.
