Favourite game sidekick?

There's been a lot of talk lately about sidekicks people hate for various reasons, you know their AI is dodgy and they generally either can't help you or only get in the way. Or maybe you just don't like them as characters in general. I have plenty of sidekicks that fit the bill in that regard to say the least my heroic allies in Gears of War 2 who stood there staring into space while I lay bleeding to death AT THEIR FEET and still wasn't revived for instance.

But rather than make a thread about that I'll instead ask what characters 'sidekicks' or 'side characters' more like that you personally liked the most? Whether it was for their personality, how they assisted you in gameplay or anything else in between. For me there is an extensive list including Ben Carmine, Wrex, some of the leads in the Halo series, Alyx Vance and the Companion Cube for example.
But that's just me what game siekicks or side characters do you like the most and why?

Ben Carmine blind fired a sniper rifle and therefore ended up on my hate list.

Anyway, I liked the ODST soldiers on halo because they actually fired their weapons. They were damn fine shots, too.

i gave her just a MP5 and made her carry healing items
she never fucked me over or got in the way
and she always healed me when i needed it.
it was great not having to look at my health all the time

Kreia, I know it says nothing but bad things about my mental place when I can identify, and indeed like the cryptic bitchy sensei/villain then any of the other schmucks on the Ebon Hawk

HK-47, He's always been good, no wishy washy bullshit, just a good old fashion murder machine, I think I liked him better in the original KOTOR for some reason.

You must have got a special, magical copy of Resident Evil 5. My Sheva got stuck on corners, took 30 seconds to heal me when i was dying, and shot me in the back while aiming at enemies in front of me.
