It was by far the best part of the game, the lonely music trudging through the dark empty streets and the triumphant but still desperate orchestral music during the larger battle scenes.

Far to difficult to choose! There are so many games with such great music! Here's just a few games though where the music really gets me going in some way (even if its just nostalgia)....
Final Fantasy VII, Shenmue I+II, Heavy Rain, Omikron: The Nomad Soul, Chrono Trigger, Pokemon, Sonic The Hedgehog 3, all NES-based Mario games, Parappa The Rapper... Actually, I could go on for ages...

There are loads of Final Fantasy tracks I love but these are just two I picked
I know this is a real Beethoven song, but it is featured in the Resident Evil games
Other games such as Pokemon, Sonic, Zelda etc all have fantastic scores.
