I haven't watched many horror movies at all so I don't consider myself to be very learned when it comes to the genre. I did however quite enjoy the first Saw. I so did not see the twist at the end coming and the whole movie was very entertaining. I did watch a few scenes from the subsequent films but it just seemed like the concept was being taken too far.

Lost Boys.

One of my favourite films of all time. When Vampires could look like hard bastards even with dodgy hair.

While The Shining scared me the most, my vote goes to The Thing because of...well the thing itself. Don't get me wrong, I love both it's just that I'm a sucker for sci-fi.

Yes I do happen to like horror films in a cold setting. Except AVP.

28 Days Later. Awesome soundtrack, intense atmosphere, scary monsters, and above all else, the decency to remember that we care more about these characters if they have a chance to escape and survive.

Murder Party [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0878695/]. It's a really low-budget parody horror type film where a bunch of hipster artists try to murder someone on Halloween to get a grant. It's quite well done, but is best watched as a B-movie after a few beers.

I don't know if I can decide between Orphan and Creep. Both are great in my opinion.

Hmm... Well, one of the only horror films to give me the creeps was "The Descent", but that was more because the first half of the film played against my claustrophobia. The second half of the film was alright, but not actually scary to me. If anything, it was a sigh of relief that the focus wasn't on the narrow pathways.

"28 Days Later" didn't scare me, but I probably enjoy that movie more than any other horror movie. And don't even get me started on its soundtrack. Gorgeous.

Probably The Thing and if it's not that it's either Jacob's Ladder or the original 2 Nightmare on Elm Street/Friday the 13th movies.

I'm not huge into horror movies, but 28 Days Later was pretty awesome. I really liked last year's The Thing, too.

Let Me In is my favorite. I haven't seen the original Swedish version, but whatever quality that movie has shouldn't diminish Let Me In's greatness

The Decent as mentioned got to me a bit, the whole closed in spaces.
The ending of the Ring unspoiled was pretty nifty for me.
While more a thriller IMO I'm pretty partial to the Skeleton Key.
On that note 1408 wasnt to shabby either.
It takes a lot to scare me, though there have been a few that have left me unsettled.
I never really found 28days to horror for me, no offense to those that did. I guess as I am a zombie movie veteran. Dawn of the Dead my #1.

The Audition was pretty damn scary, and unnerving too.

28 Days Later was a pretty good movie, not something I want to see all the time, but I will still watch it.

Some pretty good entries already so I'll leave a somewhat obscure foreign one. Noroi. It's a Japanese horror film from the handheld shaky POV genre. It's pretty long and takes a good chunk of time to set up but it's worth a look if that genre interests you. It goes over things a little too much and has a lot of down time but a few of the scenes scared the shit out of me.
Another film from the same sub-genre of horror is Lake Mungo. This one is a fairly low budget suspense film surrounding the drowning of an Australian Teen and the events that happen to her family. It's done as a documentary and is pretty slow but holy God did the ending freak me out. If you have time and patience the pay off is really good.

The Thing.

Damn that is a great film. So well made and so re-watchable. And very importantly - it doesn't have a female lead! Hooray!

Nothing is as scary as Come and See. Not technically a horror film.

My favorite to watch is John Carpenter's The Thing.

I really liked "The Strangers". It terrified me, and I think the line "because you were home" was really brilliant. It kind of made it more scary that the killers had absolutely no reason for killing their victims.

Also: The Ring. I saw it when I was fairly young, and it scarred me for life. Television static will forever make me feel uncomfortable.

28 Days Later creeped me out a bit (Although I'll never call it a zombie flick, but fuck getting into that long dead argument). But...

[REC]2. I did not sleep without all the lights in the house turned on for about two weeks. That movie scared the living fuck out of me.

John Carpenter's version of "The Thing" is probably my overall favorite.

Ridley Scott's "Alien" would probably be my second favorite.

The only thing horrifying about that movie is that it exists.
