My favourite horror films (no particular order):

Stephen King's Rose Red (Favourite haunted house film)
John Carpenter's The Thing
The Devil's Rejects (NOT House of a thousand corpses which is just a gorefest)

Quite a few to list:

Brain Dead - Forget Lord of the Rings - This was Peter Jackson's greatest moment!
Ring 0 - Birthday (Best of the Ringu series)
Mute Witness - Brilliant, under-rated Hitchcock/De Palma type horror/thriller
Cube - Excellent...right up until the rubbish ending.
All the final destination films
Audition - Really REALLY disturbing ending!
Prince of Darkness - the Thing was already mentioned, but PoD & Halloween were Carpenter's only other decent horror flicks

And yeah, anything by Dario Argento, David Cronenbourg or Guilliermo Del Toro

28 Days Later - I like that it didn't go all Hollywood on us, wasn't all action non-stop, and had a few memorable actors.
28 Weeks Later - Just as awesome as 28 Days if not better, and a really cool scene involving a helicopter.
Resident Evil Apocalypse - I liked this better than the first one, cuz it showed how kick but awesome Alice is.
Resident Evil Extinction - Introduces that good old favorite Claire Redfield wearing her signature getup, and hosting that famous tentacle mutant fight from the game, as well as a very creepy bird attack scene.
House of Wax (2005 remake) - Had a cool story to it, and who doesn't love to see Paris Hilton get what's comin' to her.

Good Choice!
I'd say I really like Army of Darkness even though it's not really horror.
I don't care what other people say I like the american Grudge. I know I know no one seems too but god damn I've never seen a bigger reaction to a movie in the theater and thats probably why I love it sooooo much <3.

The recent Friday the 13th was enjoyable. Is it horror if you sit there laughing the entire time?

I keep searching for a decent horror movie, but nothing is scary... mostly just surprising or gore-y. Even then a good surprise is hard to find.

It's a very, very bleak ending, but I don't think it spoiled the movie. Just stopped it ending on a cliffhanger.
