Probably not entirely on topic, but I typically get lyrics of songs I can't stand stuck in my head for the LONGEST time. (A terrible example is recently I got Britney Spears stuck in my head thanks to a stupid presentation in my music class the other day). I remember the days when she used to be good.

As for guitar solos that just came off as being INSANELY awesome. I'd say check out Europe's "Final Countdown", The Who's "Baba O'Riely" (spelling might be off), and there was something else that was really good too but I can't think of the name of it (or the band). I wanna say it was something by Crush40, Queen, or one of the Japanese groups I've got on my CDs. I'll probably remember once I post this too. haha.

Over in Indiana,
Wearing their red bandanas,
The Indians eat bananas,
Thinking they're full of Vitamin C...

VERY obscure. If anybody actually names this song WITHOUT looking up the lyrics, they will earn, 9000 internet cookies, a high five AND a pat on the back.
I gave in and searched it.... I didn't think they were all that obscure? They got a fair bit of radioplay on Triple J...
As a band, yes. That particular song? NOBODY'S heard of it.

Kneel in silence, alone
My spirit bares me
Pray for guidance, towards home
In darkest hours

Kneel (dream within dream we travel)
In silence (empires of faith unravel)
Alone (sealed with our virtues' treasures)
Kingdoms falling..

Down (who's hand commands this thunder)
In silence (cry as we're torn asunder)
Alone (unto what gods do I call?)
Protect us in our..

Fall away, my soul wandered
Borne by grace
I flew on high, sheltered from this thunder
Calling heaven..

Take me away from time and season
Far far away we'll sing with reason
Prepare a throne of stars above me
As the world once known will leave me

Take me away upon a plateau
Far far away from fears and shadow
Strengthen my heart in times of sorrow
Light the way to bright tomorrows

Answer our call in desperate hours
Shelter our fall from earthly powers
Temper our souls with flame and furnace
Bear us toward a noble purpose

Heaven hides nothing in its measure
Mortal men blinded by false treasure
Formless and vanquished we shall travel
Shield and sword will guide our battle

Take me away from time and season
Far far away we'll sing with reason
Prepare a throne of stars above me
As the world once known will leave me

Take me away upon a plateau
Far far away from fears and shadow
Strengthen my heart in times of sorrow
Light the way to bright tomorrows

Heaven hides nothing in its measure
Mortal men blinded by false treasure
Formless and vanquished we shall travel
Shield and faith will guide our battle

Salvation comes in desperate hours
Angels on high proclaim these powers
Lead us from chaos we shall follow
Bear us to a bright tomorrow

Reptiles by Them Crooked Vultures:

I tried to make a break
What a fool
I should've known I never listen
I'm in a cage
An animal I'm in a cage

But the reptiles
They won't let me go
I think they want you to stray

Watch the monkey dance
Give 'em a taste
Look at him he's always smiling
Help me to escape
Your mouth agape
You foreign tourist

Woe is me, it will be a funeral
A circus, I'll rap on the cell door
Questions are a fire
That needs feeding to survive
So just you let those flames die down

Trained by consequence and the lash
It leaves me breathless
Their prais is a poison to us all
In the moonlight their scars flash like jewelry
Get too precious
Get locked up in a cage

Want to get, gotta risk any move
Misconstrued and you're screwed
Tongues flash and flick as if they're screaming

Oh they lie just like any lover
Oh do they, those kisses will burn

Under the lights
They snap a finger
You jump, you answer
Like a naive hooker with a big dumb smile

For the reptiles
I guess you'll never know
They won't let you go
Cause you're the soup du'jour. that's for sure

Questions are a fire
That needs feeding to survive
So just you let those flames die down

See them reptiles crawl?
Getting closer
Why won't someone come to drive them away?

Don't rest too long
It's a mistake we can't take back
Take one lying down for a change
And oh it's like cleaning up after an orgy
When it's over
I wish someone would burn this place
To the ground

I only like a handful of Fantomas songs really, mostly his covers of horror movie themes (Cape Fear, The Omen, Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer) the rest is not terrble but it's like you said, not really substantial music. Just a collection of incoherent noises really. I'm also on the fence about the album he made with some european musician (I think he's norwegian or swedish) named Kaada, it's not bad music it's just a little too mellow. Like surreal elevator music.

If you'd like to hear more Tomahawk I've got some of their songs (Among other things) on my Playlist.com account. I like to share my Playlist as often as possible. :p

http://www.playlist.com/playlist/17488160523
That playlist isn't available in my country but no matter, I will listen to it some time in the near future. To finish up our conversation (It's 4 am where I live :p) I have to recommend A Perfect Place [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=smuMd-IrffU]. It's a really interesting short film with a noir feel to it. The soundtrack was done by Mike Patton. Thus concludes our endeavour into the music of Mike Patton. Adieu :)

Of the moment? Well, I do happen to be viewing a certain anime...

Okay, it's absolutely tooth-rotting, but the quality is outstanding for an English translation of an anime.

A-LY-YA...

Elena Siegman - The One(World at War Shi no Numa theme

All my life I've been debating
All the crows they sit there waiting
Wondering what I'm going to eat
Until I have it I can't breathe

I only see you on the floor
Your hearts not beating anymore
My lust for you it cannot wait
Your skin it tastes like chocolate

Staring blankly at the sun
Waiting for my time to come
Your happy life it makes me sick
All the screaming sounds like music

Losing all my holy dreams
Someone tell me what they mean
There's a iron smell of blood in the air
But I can't find it anywhere

I've been waiting for someone to find me
And become a part of me (A part of...)
I've been waiting for you
To come here
And kill me
And set me free
I've been waiting for the one

Blood's flavor is so metallic
It's smell makes me go phrenetic
Textures that I find in you is a thick vicious glue
Some nights I become so clean
With all I touch and all I see
There's an iron smell of blood in the air
and now I see it everywhere

I've been waiting for someone to find me
And become a part of me (A part of me...)
I've been waiting for you
To come here
And kill me
And set me free (Oh)
I've been waiting for the one

I've been waiting for someone to find me
And become a part of me (A part of me...)
I've been waiting for you to
Come here
And kill me (Oh)
I've been waiting for the one
-------------------------------------
Its so dark and demanted and I love it :)

They might also have to tell me how to embed images though.

"Save yourself a penny for the Ferryman
Save yourself and let them suffer"

Planet Hell by Nightwish
This is one of those lines that gets stuck in my head, and then I'll be at work, around little kids and their parents, and I'll have to bite my tongue and not break out singing this to them. The parents wouldn't appreciate it at an amusement park.

Current line:

"To our great distrust
Escapism a means of
Getting through alive
Take it in and spit it out again
That measly filth

Focal degradation
Bring the chaos into light
Cathode ray sunshine
Burn"

(Cathode Ray Sunshine/ Brutal Legend Dark Tranquility)

And in the category of "darned if I know what it's supposed to mean, but it's incredible":

"Jacob's ghost for the girl in white
Blindfold for the blind
Dead siblings walking the dying earth

Noose around the choking heart
Eternity torn apart
Slow toll now the funeral bells"

(Bye Bye Beautiful/ Nightwish)

...So apparently my taste in lyrics is really gloomy.

Out on the road there are fireflies circling
Deep in the woods, where the lost souls hide
Over the hill there are men returning
Trying to find some peace of mind

Oh, sleep my child (4x)

Under the fog there are shadows moving
Don't be afraid, hold my hand
Into the dark there are eyelids closing
Buried alive in the shifting sands

Oh, sleep my child (4x)

Speak to me now and the world will crumble
Open a door and the moon will fall
All of your life all your memories
Go to your dreams, forget it all

Oh, sleep my child (4x)

The last verse is my favorite, though the entire song is amazing. Then again, Opeth's ballads usually are.
