I would have to say playing Prototype or Dynasty Warriors. Just a simple no brainer hack and slash game they always have a soothing effect on me since they don't require much thinking.

Driving down the main road, in a moonbeam in GTA:Vice City while listening to Wave 103.

Earth Defence Force 2017 - Shooting a rocket launcher that fires 20 missiles in 3 seconds, reloads in 2 seconds, and has infinite ammo into a group of giant bugs that fly miles in explosions is always good.

Skies of Arcadia - immersive and tactical enough to make you forget the day and fun enough to pick it up whenever.
I've heard of Skies of Arcadia, what is it like? Also is Earth Defence Force 2017 good?

Skies if Arcadia is my favourite RPG of all time, I definatly recommend it. EDF is an awful game but is somehow so much fun. The graphics suck, the guns are stupid, there is no AI (in fact it doesn't need one), there is no realisim, the story takes two sentnces to explain and the talking is plain retarded (making it the funniest thing ever heard. I reccomend it.

San Andreas, if I'm feeling destructive, but my favorite stress reliever is Call of Duty 4 one handed, with the Slow Mo cheat one while surfing the 'net with the other hand. Multitasking helps me relax, which is why I sometimes like to play multiple games at the same time (pc, console, handheld)

Left 4 Dead, shooting mindless zombies is really fun.

Or Fallout 3, scavaging through a desolate wasteland really puts perspective in your life.

I don't really have one, but shooting people in the crotch in fable 2 with a legendary shotgun is fun times.

I wouldn't mind a game where you are the bad guy and the good guy is an idiot who everyone loves and you kick his ass and all the people who love him die horribly and he wakes up to the truth of the world and becomes a bad guy who wants to kill you, even though you are also a bad guy. Fun times...
If you are feeling particularly quirky, find the OLD game "Thousand Arms". Game of being an evil, male-chauvinist pig for fun and profit. It's hilariously bad and nice to dump your aggressions on sometimes.

Persona 3 when you just want to shoot people in the head...to release their super powers of course!

And then Halo, Oblivion, or Fable 2, any spectacular "beat something up" type game for dumping aggression/frustration into.

Prototype: Nothing is more fun in that game then infiltrating a military base and wiping everything inside.

Oblivion/Fallout 3: It's really fun just roaming around trying to find items, dungeons (or vaults), and towns.

Flower: It's just really soothing and fun. It was basically made to relieve stress.

Uno or 1 vs 100 with friends. Games where I have to shoot stuff just piss me off sometimes with people's stupidity.

Bioshock. If I'm feeling generous, I would end their suffering by hitting them with a wrench after a lightning shock. If not, I'll combine my fire powers with hornet swarms for maximum pain fest. SUFFER!

LittleBigPlanet.
One look at that Sackboy's cheeky smile and the stress just flies away.

It returns, of course, when the bloody thing doesn't jump high enough and impales itself on some spikes.
