Don't know if this topic has been done before, honestly don't care.

The reason I created this thread is because I've been listening to alot of "Them Crooked Vultures". A band formed from many different - quality - bands (Including my favourite musician, Dave Grohl from Nirvana and Foo Fighters). There have been many of these 'supergroups' (E.g. Bad Company,Crosby Stills and Nash, Velvet Revolver, etc.) so who are your favourite?

Gonna have to go for Chickenfoot, given it has Ol' Satch in it, and they're really the only supergroup that I listen to

Does Fight count? They have Rob Halford and Scott Travis of Judas Priest, Satchel from Steel Panther, and someone else that doesn't have a Wikipedia page.

I can't really think of any supergroups that are better than the groups that they are made up of. On the other hand, it may be one of those things where because the supergroup is so famous that most people forget that they are one (the example of Cream that someone said earlier).

Probably The New Pornographers, mostly because they're as good together as they are individually, since none of them really do Peppy Power Pop-Rock on their own.

Edit: Also I got into the New Porno's first, before I got into each of the individual musicians and their solo projects.

What's the difference between a supergroup and a regular band? I would say that I don't really listen to any supergroups but some people mentioned Queens of the Stone Age and Rammstein, so I'm not so sure...

A Supergroup is a loose term for a Musical Group composed of people who are already famous for a solo project or involvement with another group.

Like how The Velvet Revolver was Slash from Guns and Roses and that dude from Stone Temple Pilots (at one point, I have no idea what their current lineup is).

That's my answer neatly summed up, nicely done!

The Traveling Wilburys. A supergroup composed of Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne, Roy Orbison and George Harrison. How could they be bad with that line up?
