I certainly hope so. Time Warner already charges me 36 bucks a month for paltry 3 mg download speeds. They're certainly not above screwing me.
3MB/s or 3Mbit?

Because I use 2Mb/s(20Mbit) internet for £21 per month(exactly $36) and Virgin Media are supposed to be the best ISP in Britain, and I don't want to think that I am getting screwed over by them.

Because that wouldn't be nice.

OT: I don't know if the FCC has a good track record, but in this case, if they are fighting to not have companies dick over people in the US, then they are most certainly doing the right thing.

[small]What is it with companies screwing over consumers these past years? >.<[/small]
It is 3Mbps, that is the Time Warner Cable basic package. I have the Ultimate package, it only cost me $38/month because I have a 50% discount.

Right now Time Warner Cable stands Net Neutrality, however in a few months, TWC is probably going to be owned by another cable company.
YAY!

So I am getting shafted!

Goddamit UK and your internet speeds:

the quality and cost can also be effected on where you live for I see many places in the UK with good service so it is more complex than just sayone company has all the power. In my State the cost and speed is better the closer you are to te cities, but if you want the same in the boonies you are shit out of luck be it they dont have as much cable/wiring down there or just don't find it as profitable to give the best they ca deliver there thus just the consumer gets shafted the most. Also if you live in a area where only one or two companies own all the wiring/connection you are not going to get any good deals out of them since you are pretty much forced into it since they hold a monopoly.

Both the Telecom companies and the FCC are shit. Both are corrupt and rather greedy in regards to their respective reaches of their power.

However, I feel more confident in supporting the FCC in this one to at least restore the net neutrality playing board back to what it was instead of gambling on Big Telecom to "do the right thing" and honor their word that they won't extort and chop up the internet for profit. In the case of the latter, it would be like trusting a shark not to attack a bleeding swimmer.

I mean, I never thought I'd side with those censor-happy prudes at the FCC, but comparing the corporate track records - I think they may just be, surprisingly, the lesser of two evils here.

Congress and through Congress the people do.
I will agree with your post when the quoted part becomes true. Until then i prefer Enlightened Dictatorship over Lobbyism.

Deflection alert! This is a deflection. He's not going to do anything about it at all. I almost guarantee it. The FCC is almost as corrupt as the FDA, so there's no way they're going to do anything that would interfere with the bottom line of big business.
Problem with this thoery is that they already did interfere with the bottom like of big business. Said big business then took them to court and won. Now he wants to find a way to do it again.

I'd say both of you are getting shafted, just look at that TERRIBLE upload speed.
