On the lighter side of things, I should point out that no Ferengi in his right mind would ever accept Bitcoins/Dogecoins.
Absolutely not, under no conditions would a Ferengi with the lobes for business buy them. Sell them... absolutely. Buy them. Never. Well maybe Rom.
And from Quark, no less. That'd be the proverbial cherry on top. Ironically, Ferengi exploits were one of the few things I liked about DS9. (Because in most other places, I can't stand 'em.)

I have to agree with a few others in this thread. It's a cool idea, and it actually could work, but it's going to take some of the internets heavy hitters using it to really make an impact.

Any chance the Escapist can implement their own Ferengi Plan? It could generate a lot of revenue!
Are you reading this Tito? Mr. Sterling?

If there was EVER a time to make a statement regarding the issue of net neutrality, doing something around these lines would almost certainly be positive for all involved. I know Greg would likely be one of the only people with authority on The Escapist to do something like this, but I mention President Sterling because, if nothing else, he'd be the one to get the ball rolling vocally, likely with an emergency episode of the Jimquisition.

On that note....a request, Lord Sterling! A Jimquisition, emergency style, regarding the issue at hand, would you kindly?

And they called it the Ferengi Plan.

I love the internet.

Also, YES! Get the Escapist on this plan now. Revolt! Revolt! Take up thine arms and slap a corrupt Exec.

And then comcast quietly gives the FCC the money to pay anyways and the plan goes through regardless. Why? Because money is speech now, and comcast has more speech than all of us.

So here's to this pointless revolution.

HA! Part of me hopes this would somehow work, but then you have to remember who it is those assholes at the FCC are really working for, so I doubt they'll give two shits if their Internet got real slow all of a sudden.

Still a good try though, I hope this takes off like crazy somehow.
Come on, they're American, aren't they? Of course slow internet will bother them. We live in an age where taking thirty seconds is forever. I believe a comedian once deconstructed this about cellphones, emphasizing how amazing the technology is from an objective viewpoint, then pointing out how people will ***** and moan because sometimes they have problems with it.

Clearly I haven't, because EA must have already shut down by now, along with activision. Oh wait, bioware had to change one game ending. Ooh, I'm shaking in my boots.

To the contrary, none of the sound and fury has dented the end of net neutrality or stopped several ISPs from throttling bandwidth in the US.

I think you're in the group "not paying attention." How many months has this been going on? Have they stopped bandwith throttling? No?

What I said to him goes triple for you. If the Escapist's reports one how the bigwigs have been more heavily-affected this year than in perhaps their whole lives, then there's nothing I can do for you. I tend not to listen to doom prophecy. It's always wrong.

EDIT: By rhe way, you still haven't apologized for youe behavior when you argued about Microsoft, a bigwig that has taken quite a few hits as of late. You were in the wrong there too, and rude.

When the cynic (That's me!) says you're being pessemistic, it's time to re-evaluate.
Just call me the gritty reboot of myself and sell me to PG=13 audiences and people who take max payne 3's max payne seriously.

Because apparently everything these days needs to be gritty and depressed. Don't see why I should stand out.

Ah, but Grasshopper! He who make Escape From New York without Kurt Russell actually lighter than original!

*Pause*

I'm...not sure what the hell I just said. Point is...lighten up!

That's pretty hilarious (also, neocities still exists? I had no idea)! It would be pretty great to see larger websites adopting this tactic...analysts in the FCC will probably become a lot more enthusiastic in their reports about the benefits of net neutrality!

+1
The battle is still ongoing...the naysayers are simply recovering from the shellshock of the legal defeat five months ago. There's no cause to start waving white flags just yet!

Wow, that's so much better than the pissing into the wind I've been doing. Gotta try that next time, it'll save on laundry.

You can't offer a single example, then? Instead relying on quote editing and distraction instead of addressing the lack of meaningful change in the industry despite

I tend not to listen to doom prophecy. It's always wrong.
That's nice, but irrelevant to the facts or topic at hand. You're factually incorrect, so none of your strawmen matter here. It's not a doomsday prophecy. It's just reporting on the matters at hand as they happen to be. I've asked you before to not lie about my stances.

EDIT: By rhe way, you still haven't apologized for youe behavior when you argued about Microsoft, a bigwig that has taken quite a few hits as of late. You were in the wrong there too, and rude.
You lied about my stance and then ignored me. Your exact, repeated MO, in fact. Who was rude, exactly? Because I think you should apologise for your continued misrepresentation of others. This is a distraction from the fact that you cannot argue on the merits of consumer outrage having any positive impact on ISP policy. And if you can't address that, why even engage me?

Nor is there any reason to predict victory, but I bet you won't chastise the people who are claiming that.
I don't remember "chastising" anyone, so, uh, yeah, I won't chastise people who claim that (though I would probably point out that there's no reason to wave victory flags either).

Oh by the way, you still haven't told me when I "lied" about you. Care to share?
