Ok, I had a pretty long discussion about this with my friend the other day
so the question I have for you guys is, Do you get scared when you play some games?
I know there's a whole genre devoted to games devoted to fear and such
but do you really get scared when playing them?

I personally don't get scared of the monsters/scenery, but start to panic when I run low on ammo around them (damn you Chainsaw Maljini and your strange ability to survive barrel explosions/ repeated shots to the head)

Dead Space. I stayed up all night playing it because I couldn't go to sleep because it was too scary.

Silent Hill 2's use of ambient noise in one section of the prison level made me stop playing out of fear, eventually I got over it but it made me so scared that I had to stop playing.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
the only games that really scared me were silent hill and silent hill 3, a few other games have been kinda creepy but not scary

I've only played the dead space demo, but when A slasher charges me I always start to panic and empty my clip on it..

I don't usually play horror games, but F.E.A.R. 2 really got me, especially when you're walking down a school hallway and all the lights turn off and the lockers start slamming open and shut. I hate being stuck in the dark in games, and worse, dark open spaces.

I played through a bit of Dead Space, and the only thing that I found a bit creepy was the sound effects.

I'm only afraid in games when there's the whole "ARRRGHHH" jump out of nowhere into your screen image things. But that's because I hate surprises.

I in COD4 during the sniper mission I was scared shitless, always scared going through rooms thinking there's a russian there and then carrying my captain while hundreds of soldiers where chasing us. I didn't think of it as an action game I thought it was more of a survival horror.

The hospital did that for me.

For me, the two games that have actually managed to create a constant feeling of fear in me (as opposed to games that only cater to the horror fans by including jump-out scares) are the aforementioned Silent Hill 2 and Aliens vs Predator 2.

For me it is probably Shalebridge Cradle in Thief DS. That game was pretty fun since I have no other comparisons Thief-wise. God I hate those "creepy children laughing" sound effect. I turned the volume off for most of the level.

In legend of zelda: orcarina of time I was scared whenever I was in the well, or the shadow temple, or when in the spots where the hands came down in the forest temple. Mostly because of the background music and creepy look.

I never really get scared with most games but theres a lot of games that creep me out just because of the ambience in one or two levels

For some odd reason during timed events or during a big boss fight I get intimidated and leave the controller and do something else. Thinking what would happen if I failed and the... imaginary...fake...person died... in the video...game. Ok back to the game!
