I kind of noticed somthing....

somtimes when articles have "shock" headlines, which I guess shouldn't be surprsing as thats how they get you to read

but I mean besides the headline I find thease articles really vauge and when it comes down to it I really dont know what they are actually talking about

for example the "Vavle: no more single player games" article on the front page right now, now obviously thats going to cause some people to flip out (certainly didnt go down well with me)

but really the article is so vauge it could mean ANYTHING, all games will have some kind of co-op or somthing, besically they also said no more "isolated" single player..yeah I dont know what that means...ill have to be connected to the internet while I play?

anyway Im not worried, theres no point getting worked up over an article thats so vaugue

and its not just that one but other "shock" titles articles

so anyone else get this?

It's a tried and true method of Journalism that you put the thing that grabs the most attention first, other details that are most interesting at the first part of the article, and as you read down the details become more fine or nuanced. It's a common method of getting viewers and readers.

However Fear-mongering is the usage of sensationalistic, often biased and possibly obscured or even fabricated information to cause fear and panic, which is a form of propaganda and/or psychological warfare. That said, it is already being carried out on the American public by way of frequently airing stories about murders, disasters, accidents and other dramatic dangerous things that can make people upset or distraut about the world outside their door. And it's by no means limited to America, it's just one cod example.

While that may be true, it had become apparent in the Sony articles comment threads that people only read the headline and get straight to commenting, without getting their facts straight. It's the cause of many a flame war here and The Escapist "journalists" are to blame. If they did their job and actually reported the news, no problem. But no, Kotaku, IGN and GameSpot kick their journalistic arses. The Australian ones, mainly. Kotaku AU is miles ahead of Kotaku America.. You don't need an account to comment, it's much more close-knit and the journalists are well-respected and don't talk shit..
