So this post has 2 purposes. Firstly to save me going down the street and asking random people the following questions and secondly i think it could make an interesting post.

So...

1. What are you most afraid of?
2. Tell me about a time you were faced with your greatest fear.
3. how did you overcome it?

K ill go first

1. What are you most afraid of?

Well spider and only when they are on the wall or roof. Height above ground, cliffs, planes, boats. And going of my recurring nightmares, Dinosaurs and large waves, you know when there is a large wave it sort of sucks in the water before, one of my nightmares and makes me feel wierd thinking about it, is of a beach that is at 45degree angle and a giant slow moving wave that sus the water infront of if. so essentially im stuck, cant move on the shore with a giant wave coming towards me.

2. Tell me about a time you were faced with your greatest fear.

well most of my fears are impossible but im constantly having huntsmans spiders in my house. us i live like 50m from a cliff so heights.

3. how did you overcome it?

i move away from the cliff or just think about something else. with the spiders i used to not even be in the me room as one but now its not as bad. i can stand near them and kill them with out pooing my pants.

I'm mostly afraid of heights like when im standing on top of a lighthouse or tower. Looking down into the ground from a high stance gives me the chills, the one that can be felt in the back of my spine.

The worst moment ive been in was when i was surfing and this really big wave pulled me up to the top. scared, i lost control and fell off, it was the longest 10 seconds of my life. I felt really scared when i fell. I got a few bruises but i was alright in the end.

Helicopter lessons =] surprisingly this helps me a lot! I feel less chills when looking down from high places and I reckon ill be free off of this burden.

Heheheh... :/

1. I am terrified of heights. I have absolutely no natural balance or coordination and the prospect of adding a great distance to my regular falls is not really an appealing one.

2. Background: I am studying to be a mining engineer. One of my perceived side benefits to this was that I would never have to be too far off the ground. In fact, there are quite a few occasions where underground work is required. That is not a problem for me since confined spaces are not the issue.

I never thought I would need to be confronted with a great height.

I never considered that I might need to climb through the ventilation ducts to check the wiring on one of the auxiliary fans.

Three ladders. Two changeover platforms. 600 feet.

o.o

3. Overcome it? Mostly by pretending I was doing ANYTHING else. That was the only trick to it. Just focusing on anything but the great deal of distance between me and the ground and the rushing air pushing down on my face and how sweaty my hands are and how tall and cold this ladder is and...

I survived. I don't think I want to specialize in ventilation. That is all. >.<

1)I'm afraid of deep water.

2)Besides the times I nearly drowned that caused that fear? Falling into water is pretty much how run into my fear.

3)How do I overcome it? I panic to the point of sinking to the bottom and sprint out of the water. Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's gonna kill me one of these days.

1, Helplessness/Being Helpless. I can't bear the thought of being completely helpless.
2. Um... Can't say really. I only twigged to that being my greatest fear due to a) a dream I had once and b) during my recent college studies I found when I couldn't get help right away I got anxiety attacks. I could only conclude it was because I felt helpless (which I did) and I couldn't bear it.
3. Can't say I have.

1. I have an irrational fear of Roller Coasters. Heights don't bother me at all. Pictures, videos (even first person videos) of them etc. don't bother me whatsoever. Faced with the prospect of actually riding one I have a quiet internal freak out and find something else to ride.

2. I rode a coaster at Six Flags Over Texas when I was about 12. I can't remember the name of it but the gimmick was that it was inside this big fake mountain and it was pitch black once the ride started. That night I had a horrific nightmare about that ride crashing while I rode and they never found me. Never been on one since.

3. I don't have any plans to ever confront it as it's easy to avoid and I'm too cheap to wanna drive to Dallas to do so. lol

1. Not finding my soulmate

2. Used to be afraid of heights, but roller coasters and those towers that raise you up real high and drop you took care of that. Now they're boring.

3. Not much, really. My best girlfriend started out as a friend, so I'm just maintaining my friendships with women I care about at all and waiting for the right time.

1. Enclosed spaces in which I can't stand up.
2. Ok, so I was at this zoo with one of my aunt's kids and there was this big playground with a rabbit-warren style thing with loads of tunnels and little clear pods you could crawl in through the tunnels. I was about 10 and the kid was about 5, and he decided to refuse to come out so my parents sent me in after him and I had an asthma attack in the tunnel. I always feel like I cant breathe when I am in a small space like that.
3. I wouldn't say I really overcame it, I still wont go in tunnels and I even get uncomfortable if I have to crawl through too many vents in a video game.
