I'd like to feel a little older. I'm 21, but my baby face says "17". Suuuucks! Apparently that will be great when I do finally reach 30 and so on, but it sure makes getting drinks at the bar a hassle.

Well, from a gaming related point of view, someone on these forums once remarked that Halo was the first FPS they'd ever played when they were a kid.

The first FPS I ever played was Wolfenstein 3D, which came out in 1991. I was 11 years old at the time.

Ouch.

EDIT: What really makes me feel old, is that after posting in this thread, it got me to thinking... I remember being 16 years old, and having a one night stand. If that girl became pregnant from that time, our child would be the average age of posters on these forums.

*Shivers
That is... not a good way to look at it XD

Yikes. Even I had played Doom and Star Wars: Dark Forces/Dark Forces II long before Halo was released.

Also, Shadowcaster. Nobody ever talks about that game. Or Betrayal at Krondor. I technically shouldn't even remember those, myself, but I do! Mostly because my computer isn't ancient enough to actually play the old disc of Betrayal at Krondor that my dad owns.

I never did beat that game...

EDIT: Oh, here we go:

The last desktop computer I actually owned, had Windows 98 on it.

I feel old when I read posts by people younger than me talking about how old they feel...

EDIT: Also, my receding hairline. Grow back hair! PLEASE?!

I'll just keep screaming at it... that works right?

My first FPS was probably Goldeneye, but that's likely due to that fact that I didn't have a pc to play games on until 2000ish. I was a little young for Doom during the 90's anyway.

Something not related to media getting older? My nephew is in the same elementary school I went to now.

...

Damn, that hits me every time.

I've really been hit hard by the whole "quarter-life crisis" of late.

When I realized I was turning 24 this year, having taken life easy for so long that I have barely gotten any "real-life" experience, and still have a good 2 and a half years before I get my bachelor's degree, and not achieved all that much compared to my peers...oh yeah, I definitely feel old.

I think mostly it's the idea that I've wasted what are supposed to be my "best years" by just taking life easy that's snuck up on me.

As a 24 year old I don't know what to say. I have plenty of time, but I'm going batshit crazy over how to spend it. Lets see, taught myself Maya, Photoshop, Zbrush, still struggling with the whole dame thing, fuck you Autism and severe anxiety disorder!!!! I've seen enough great movies, played enough great games, made a few of both, not good ones mind you, honestly the last thing I need to do before I am satisfied with my age/life is finish college and make the beast with two backs. The Matrix is 13 years old?!!!

Funny thing though, the shows on Cartoon Network now would have still been huge back in the 90s, look at Adventure Time good lord these kids are so lucky for getting a show that blows so much else especially from the 70s/80s out of the fucking water! Damn those Hanna Barbara crapfests(the Flinstones is okay) and the marketing tools that were Transformers and G.I. Joe featured terribly stiff, boring animation compared to Adventure Time. Ninjago is good too. Yes I love my Dexter's Lab and Rugrats, but for me animation and story-telling in animation has stayed great, not gotten worse as some nostalgic idiots my age and older might say.

One more thing, I guess I do know what to say.

Yes. Everytime someone says that there is this great new group called Daft Punk. I fight the urge to smack them and tell them to go research music to find out how "new" Daft Punk is and the fact that they existed before Tron: Legacy. Also that Tron was released 3 years before I was born making it 30 years old now and I've been in love with it for over 20 years now.

Also being told by the library that due to money issues that since the city refuses to hire me I can't volunteer because I am too old and they can't do the background checks for me to volunteer. Even if I paid for them myself I wouldn't qualify just because of my age. Regardless of the fact I practically live at the library.

Sounds a lot like me, actually. Asife from the learning all those CGI programs. I find that procrastination gets the better of me quite a bit.

The Matrix is...13 years old...? The funny thing is I didn't like the movie when it came out...it put me to sleep.

Recently I realized that I really, REALLY wanted some kidney beans and/or spinach while at the same time wanting nothing to do with red velvet cake. I'm 24 by the way.

...wha...I was convinced that I was the youngest user here (17 though technically 18 in 18 days...heh.). Oh god. There are people younger than me that come here?

At age 18 I already had people at my workplace offering me beers. I looked to be in my late 20's then. I look like I'm 30 now, and I feel like it too. I watched all of those movies on that chart, and more even older films and shows. As a kid I watched Batman: the animated series, Transformers, Johnny Quest, Pokemon, and various others. My first shooter was Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire, and my first console was an old NES. I'm only 20, and I look and feel like I'm 30. Luckily though, I'm doing something to mitigate that. The more I work out and the better my diet gets, the younger I'm starting to look and feel. So young whippersnappers, the key to looking and feeling young is eating healthy and getting plenty of exercise. Go figure.

Holy fucking Saint Bernard shit.

It's hard to believe I'm 20 now and have seen most of those movies. I still remember the day I first saw Shrek. Shit was glorious.

*sigh* This song comes to mind...

Christ, wait until you break 30. Then you get those moments every damn day. :p

Childhood icons die (RIP Maxwell Smart and Lt. Columbo), Wesley Crusher turns 40, you hear your favorite music on an "oldies" station...

It never lets up.

I'm sure there are plenty of kids where I live that didn't know we hosted the Olympics in 96'. (I live in Atlanta)
You'd have to have no eyes. When you drive into the city, you can plainly see the Olympic thing they put up, rings and all. I actually didn't know that until yesterday, thought it was pretty cool.

OT: The fact that Super Mario Bros. Deluxe came out in 1999, and I started playing it in like 2000. I've been gaming for over a decade...which is a good thing, but doesn't help my age.

Was there any moment that stopped you in your tracks and forced you to look at your old withering form? Here I was minding my own business when I realized that there are people who use these forums now that are younger than the N64... holy shit, I couldn't wrap my head around this concept. It's easy to feel like time exists in a vacuum until things hit close to home like that. Gives perspective to the whole aging thing.

So yeah, I've been told 23's a good age but never really felt like I had aged at all in the last few years until just the other day. Has this happened to anyone of you?

Also, sorry if the whole "kids here are younger than the N64" thing caught any of you off-guard and triggered this phenomenon. I feel you bro.

im only 28 but im starting to grey on the sides already

/flex

sadly, i think i have almost as many grey hairs as my father in his mid 50's.....

Kinda ironic as my face looks much younger than my age, whereas my hair makes me look older than my actual age.

oh, here is a good one. The original power rangers came out when i was in second grade (1993)!

The original pokemon when i was in high school. I played Game Gear in elementary school.
