This makes it one of the first MMORPGs not to do so. With this along with all the other features that are slowly leaking out, I think we may have a real winner here.

Well, its still a waste of dev time that could go into remakes of 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9.

Or FF15.

And its far from the first.

Heeey, you got mentioned on TalkRadar!

OT: Yeah, so far it's actually looking pretty interesting. I may actually give it a try[footnote]Perish the thought[/footnote]

Most of the time when an MMO is announced of a major franchise I want to deep throat a .40 and put myself out of this disparate misery. Take the rumours about the next Elder Scrolls for example, that made a part of me die a little. But obviously, like small yappy dog to it's owners calf, I like the look of this one. Especially given it has a PS3 release, and dare I say no monthly fees? I think after XIII an MMO might be a step up, and I needn't point out what this says about XIII.

I will be playing FFXIV, maybe tuck WoW in bed for a while, then consider killing it in it's sleep.

I can't help but agree with this. I HATE it when big single player series get an MMORPG. Not only because MMORPGS are repetitive and boring grindfests with static worlds, but also the fact that most series that get one never get another singleplayer game again (Looking at you WoW.)

On topic: That does sound pretty interesting. I do intend to try out 14 still.

Haha, the first. Oh FF fanboys, why are you always so amusing to me?

No, not even close to first by a long shot. Look it up.
Lemme rephrase that - mainstream MMORPGs.
Is now a bad time to point out Age of Conan has more players than FF11? No, that crushes your point and you'd prefer denial? Okay.

Everything they've shown so far continues what I've already known and decided. They took Vana'diel, renamed everything and made minute changes, and then throw a really awful AoC inspired combat on top of it to replace FF11's godawful combat. And much like FF13, idiots will still eat it up and not complain, because that's what diehard fanboys do.

Hey, I eat it up, then complain. I resent your remark!

I try to be a reasonable fanboy, so I will usually try to justify things with logic. An MMO out of a single-player game is generally not one of those things I will attempt to justify. I take time to mention here that FFXI is the only numbered Final Fantasy I have never played.

I may try XIV later. Not sure.

You know, I specifically said "One of the first [mainstream] MMORPGs" for a reason. But alas, trolls always seem to ignore those key words.

You can try to deny what I said by calling me a troll all you want, doesn't prove you're any less wrong. Countless games did it first, and trying to use "oh well I meant mainstream" is dodging the arguements given to you. City of Heroes/Villians and Age of Conan are well in the mainstream, I wasn't even gonna bring up titles like Neocron.

So what then, try to claim a few hundred thousand isn't "mainstream" enough? Then FF14 won't even fit into your mainstream category, there is no way in hell it'll pass or maintain 500k members.
